Easy access by car, a lot less crowded from prince ski resort, and good play park for kids! Personally, it was much easier and smoother than the prince resort to get the tickets, rent gears, and off to enjoy skiing and snow boarding. Felt so much less stress to get started, actually no stress. The size is not so big as a resort, but good enough with kids with some ski & snowboarding experience. They have 3 lifts operating; one to the middle of the mountain for the beginners, 2 to the top of the mountain for advanced & low-high intermediate level ski/snowboarders. One escalator belt for the first timers or small kids. They sell family pack tickets, and some coupons were available with Ski Travel Association of Japan with Onsen package within the resort + 1,000yen discount for the rental items, so I enjoyed the ski all day and onsen with kids right after skiing. Onsen is in the president resort Karuizawa hotel which is probably less than 3 mins walk from the ski ticket reception. They accept credit cards and some cashless payments. The cafeteria was crowded, but some hot meals like burgers, noodles, some rice bowl sets are available. Hot snack place provided some fried chickens, takoyaki, etc. There are lessons available, and kids snow park has tubing, sleighing, small ski striders, obstacles, small snow mountain, rody riding, and big swings with the ski mountain views. In the back of the snow park, there is a dog run where a lot of dogs were running around.
