One of seven lakes that is located in the heart of Texas and a recommended stop on the Bluebonnet Trail.
The lake was beautiful but you couldn't swim. There was a very nice roped off swim area and picnic tables. The area was clean and shady.

The Doeskin Ranch Trailhead is about an hour from Austin via I-35. Once you get off the interstate, it's a pretty drive through ranch land. I drove in on a Sunday morning, and there was plenty of parking at the trailhead. Just down the dirt road from the parking area are pit toilets, an amphitheater, and free trail maps. I hiked the Rimrock Trail, a moderate 2.2-mile loop along a shaded creek, through a meadow, up a hill, and then back down again. Elevation gain is pretty mild (200 ft), and there were some overgrown spots in the meadow. There are some beautiful vistas at the top, but you have to peek through trees to find them. It took me an hour with plenty of photo stops, and overall, it's a great little hike with no crowds. There are several other trails, and everything seemed well maintained. Parking is free, and as others have said, be sure to take the gorgeous Cow Creek Rd (Rt 328) on your way in or out.

Johnson City Park is a great place to ride your bikes (a short less than 2 mile gravel trail), launch your canoe, paddle board or other paddle craft, picnic, swim, fish or watch your children play, this is a wonderful family park located between old town Marble Falls and the Marble Falls Lake/Colorado River.

This 1,146-acre park is located along the north Lake Travis shoreline. Picnic tables and grills are available at the park’s campsites.
Wasn't sure what to expect when we decided to take a short drive into the recreation area but was very pleased to find BLUEBONNETS!! Very beautiful! This was our main goal of visiting this area near Marble Falls and we were not disappointed. Spent time walking and taking photos down at the lake. Will remember this each spring and will be sure to let our friends and family know.

I am always up for a search/ quest. This was very hard to find even after stopping at the visitors center. The roads are not clearly marked. In fact i went past the turn several miles. When i turned around then i saw the correct sign to turn. It is very easy to find once you are on the correct small road. Very interesting place. Worth a search.

Saddle up or tighten your laces because this 508-acre park has diverse terrain great for both horseback riding and hiking. While you’re out exploring, take a moment to enjoy the scenic overlooks surrounding this lakeside park. Picnic tables and grills are available at the park’s campsites.
A grove of pecan trees gives campers great places to set up tents or picnic at Camp Creek. The park, on the north shore of Lake Travis, is popular with anglers, especially those in search of white bass. Boats can be launched from the free boat ramp. Overnight camping is allowed, there is one waterless toilet onsite. There is no potable water nor electricity.
