Great for fishing, exploring and hiking. I was fascinated with the bodies of water. It was huge! The hiking was not too hard. It felt good to walk after driving for many hours. I loved the body of water. We could tale a boat to visit the islands. This is worthwhile to enjoy! Wow!

Opened in 1977, the Pinnacle Mountain State Park serves as a center for education, recreation and preservation.
Pinnacle Mountain State Park is a delightful natural oasis 30 mins from Little Rock. The main part of the park has a large flat area where people congregate for all kinds of activities from Frisbee to volleyball to soccer. There is a playground for the wee-ones and restrooms for all. At the same area there is access to the Little Maumelle river for canoes/kayaks. One of the main draws to the whole park is hiking Pinnacle Mountain. One access is from this main parking lot. There is another area to access the hiking trail on the other side the mountain. The east side is the harder side. Both are well marked until the near top. Then you get into large rocks and boulders with the east side being steeper. There is also a trail around the entire called the Base Trail. You can hike up one side, down the other and around the base for about a 3 mile hike. I would rate the trails up the mountain moderate to hard. I see families with small children especially on the west trail but I would not recommend that. The views from the top are stupendous. There is much more in this wonderful park! a Fishing lake which is stocked, mountain bike trails, a visitor center and a delightful short hike that is disabled access to an overlook of the Arkansas River. There is an abundance of huge cypress trees with their "elbows" along the river. Yes, Arkansas is hot and we have lots of bugs, snakes, etc so go in the fall, winter, or spring. Get off your couch, put on some bug spray and enjoy this Natural State Wonder!

This park is beautiful! Great experience for the entire family with nature trails, fishing, biking, etc. I walked my dog and I saw a field within the park full of deer. I was amazed that they were there in their natural habitat grazing. Nice for seeing nature, relaxing and walking.

The Arkansas River Bicycle Trail System is roughly 100 miles of bike paths stretching from downtown Little Rock in the River Market all the way out to Pinnacle Mountain. The bike trail begins in the Little Rock River Market and extends on both sides of the Arkansas River, crossing three pedestrian only bike bridges, including the magnificent Clinton Presidential Bike Bridge in the easternmost River Market district, Two Rivers Park bridge on the westernmost portion of the trail, and the World-Famous Big Dam Bridge which is the world's largest ped-only bike bridge spanning over the entire Arkansas River Dam. Bring your bike and enjoy both sides of the Arkansas River as you ride from downtown Little Rock through scenic Burns Park over the Big Dam Bridge and Two Rivers Park bridges extending all the way out to Pinnacle Mountain (Arkansas' most popular state park). Bike Rentals are provided in the downtown Little Rock River Market.Whether you walk, skate, or prefer to bicycle the miles of Riverfront beauty, you won't be disappointed. The entire Arkansas River Bike Trail system is paved and no motorized vehicles are allowed (including cars, trucks, and segways).
This is very inspirational walk along the Arkansas River...found out that the river walk was inspired by the river walk in Portland OR...

The Bernice Garden is privately owned by Anita Davis, but intended for public use. The garden was created to celebrate the community and hosts community events as well as private events. The Bernice garden features a yearly sculpture exhibit in an effort to foster community interaction and a sense of pride in the neighborhood. The 150’ x 150’ garden consists of landscaped area utilizing native plants, with a crushed granite foundation for the artworks created by Arkansas artists. Next to the sculpture garden is a concrete patio, benches and approximately 20 parking spaces. The garden is a community event space, hosting a weekly Sunday Farmers' Market, monthly food events, a monthly open-air vintage market, and the annual Arkansas Cornbread Festival. Please see our website for a current calendar of events.
With the revitalization of the SOMA neighborhood, there are many shops to visit (Green Corner Store, Moxy, Esse Purse Museum to name just a few) so Bernice Garden offers a place to relax. The sculptures are funky and the variety of flora made us jealous that so many of the plants would not survive in our climate. Be sure to include the Bernice Garden in your visit to the SOMA neighborhood of Little Rock!
