La Palma is a pristine paradise, set against a backdrop of volcanic landscape. Perhaps the best way to experience La Palma’s rugged beauty is a hike through the Caldera de Taburiente National Park or the narrow gorges of Los Tilos. The cool waters of natural swimming hole Charco Azul beckon on a steamy day. The dark sands of Playa Nueva are great for sunbathing and cat naps.

A stunning site to behold from different points. Definitely worth visiting by La Cumbrecita visitors' centre, very easy to reach by bus or tax or car, from which taxis are also available though some walk the steep climb to the initial viewpoint or drive to the Parking Point. An easy walk from there takes you into the caldera and even this arthritic old lady with bronchial asthma found it very comfortable gently down for the first kilometre and gently up back again.

We had an amazing ride today through pine forests and down between breathtaking volcanic scenery to a secluded cove led by our fantastic guide, Numa, from the Palma Outdoors team at La Palma & Teneguia Princess. Highly recommended, fabulous views. Mountain bikes and e bikes available, bikes are transported to starting point, and the guide will accommodate all levels. A fantastic day out!!

It is not an easy walk to get to this beach and I would not recommend it to anyone with limited mobility. However, the way to the beach is absolutely amazing The cliff path is out of this world !!!! The beach itself is not the best for swimming as the currents are very strong so don't go out of your depth.

ave you ever been to a Rescue of Exotic Animal Center on the verge of a ravine? Welcome to Maroparque Isla de La Palma, a botanical and Rescue of Animal Exotic Center site which offers you panoramic views of some parts of the island as well as of the ocean. At Maroparque you can enjoy yourself while seeing exotic animals (some of them, endangered species), such as crocodriles, porcupines, snakes, birds of prey, ostrichs, monkeys...Or take a walk through our pasable aviaries surrounded by cranes, peacocks, parrots..And beautiful albino wallabies! Always surrounded by a lot of vegetation (mostly endemic)
I'm not sure what the architect was on when he designed this place but I want some. It's a great use of space with lots of interesting and creative touches. Not sure I'll ever see another vertical zoo. As it's predominantly a rescue centre for former exotic pets it's well worth a few of your euros as well as being a great way to spend an hour or two.
