We did not know what to expect when arriving in Hull so we headed for the river and we were so pleased that we did. The powers that be have spent much money ensuring that this area is the place to go. A lovely little marina awaits with clever criss-cross walks through the area which has a promenade on one side and many bars, restaurants and shops on the opposite side. Good viewing area of the Humber with its tribute to the thousands of immigrants who passed through Hull en route to the US. The Marina is on the edge of the City Centre and the Old Town which are added attractions with its Cathedral and rejuvenated docklands well within walking distance. As we headed back to the railway station, we met the jovial folk of Hull heading in the opposite direction for their night out which sums up this area. Thoroughly recommend. Enjoy.

A great way to spend a warm Summer's day! Did this a few times as a child and have taken my own daughter on it a couple of times. Especially good with plain paper and wax crayons to do rubbings if with children. If adults alone, it's a good little pub trail once you get into the Old Town areas!

Visit Hull’s award-winning aquarium The Deep, which is home to over 5,000 animals. Marvel at amazing marine life including magnificent sharks & rays, the UK’s only pair of Green sawfish, a colony of Gentoo penguins, Loggerhead sea turtles & more. Go on a journey through prehistoric seas, past tropical lagoons, into the vast open oceans, down to the darkest depths, through the chilly Kingdom of ice & into the future. Catch the daily dive show at 2pm, penguin feeds at 11:30am & 3:30pm as well as getting hands on in a touchpool session with some animals native to British shores. Take a walk through the viewing tunnel & finish your visit with a ride in the glass lift through the 10 metre Endless Ocean tank. Little nippers can also enjoy the interactive magic floor, fossil brushing station & soft play area. Tickets cost: Adults £14, Children £11, Under 3's free, Senior/student £13. You can save 10% by booking your tickets online.

Drop in here for a sit in the sun whilst visiting the city centre. Beautiful flower displays by the council too. The knife angel exhibit was very thought provoking.

Pearson Park was Hull's first People's Park, having opened in 1861. It has recently been restored to its former glory with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The park comprises a Victorian conservatory which houses a variety of plants, as well as a lake, a children's adventure playground, a cafe, an Adizone outside gym and a bowling green. The bridge over the lake and the colourful, Victorian style bandstand are two popular newly installed 'lost' features from the original park. Pearson Park also boasts a number of interesting and important historic artefacts including: the restored statues of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, a grand Entrance Gateway, an historic drinking fountain, the cupola from the city's old Town Hall and a large monolith in memory of Zachariah Pearson who gifted the park to the people of Hull.
Pearson Park looks fabulous the transformation is amazing especially the archway. Looking forward to many more walks there with our dog.
