From the Arco naturale, we hiked to villa Malaparte and to Faraglioni de Capri, which are 3 iconic rocky peaks of the island. Their name comes directly from the geological term “faraglione”, meaning “rocky mass detached from the coast by erosion”. We were amazed by: - the Faraglione di Terra the highest (109 meters), which is still attached to the island - Faraglione di Mezzo (81 meters), which is crossed by a natural arch - Faraglione di Fuori (104 meters), which is the furthest from the coast - Scoglio del Monacone, which is more distant and whose name comes from the presence of monk seals, in older times. Altogether, I highly Recommend to hike to Faraglioni de Capri! Unfonrtunately, because we only spent one day in Capri, we had not time to go to Faraglioni using motor boat to have wonderful viewpoints on Faraglioni. I’ll come back!

Here’s a nice, winding, country walk we did from Gallina to Montichiello in beautiful Val d’Orcia, which you can do if the Orcia is pretty dry and is easy to cross. There’s nothing much in Gallina, but you might be in an agriturismo nearby, you never know, there are so many. All references to Google maps! Right, so walk straight up Via del Colombaio with the local church there on your left. Keep going up, cross the road that curves back right towards the industrial area, and follow the country track round to your right, passing a ruined house to your left. Follow the track all the way up to a nice-looking agriturismo called Locanda in Tuscany and turn left there along the country road between fields, heading towards another agriturismo called La Rimbecca, passing the driveway in front of you up to agriturismo Poder Nuovo and turning right. Yes, lots of agriturismos round here! Walk up to Rimbecca, another nice looking place, head right towards the main gate, then cut left across the car park, where you’ll find a nice long, straight tree-arched alley running down left, probably once the original driveway, and walk straight down it towards the River Orcia. Follow the curve of the road left, passing what looks like an old mill on your right, and you’ll come to the river bank. We did the walk in summer, so there wasn’t much river, just a few large puddles. Climb down into the riverbed and head left, after about 200 metres on the opposite bank you should see an exit point. We had to paddle across one of the puddles, very refreshing on the toes. About 10 metres up this track you’ll find two paths heading left, both going in the direction you want, the first running closer to the river, the second skirting the trees. Take your pick! They meet up near the river, where you continue along the main path and at a certain point, on the right, you’ll find another long straight path heading up towards the main road, Strada Provincial 53 and, yes, another agriturismo/farm called Le Checche. Cross the road and head up past the farm, the road curving round right behind it, then curving back left as you follow it up towards Villa Il Tiglio and a lovely property called Casanova, with a beautiful plump blonde horse and his sheep mates in residence if you want to say hello and nobody objects. But the main road passes under these properties, with a small body of water on your left, following a really lovely country path, my favourite of the day. You’ll come to a bend with a driveway to a house on your right, follow the bend round left and you’ll see a road heading right that goes up past two very nice little properties, highly covetable. After the second of these, when we were there, the actual road seems to vanish into a field with a hedgerow on your right, and the path should continue up to the right of that hedgerow, on the other side. But we found it pretty overgrown, so carried on up the fields with the hedgerow to our right, to the road that passes Aurora Festival on the right, where a nice lady refilled our water flasks. Continue straight on, till you pass Agriturismo Fonte Senesi on your left. Take the second road on your left, which leads down towards the main road, Strada Provinciale 88. Then all you have to do is follow that up as it evolves into Viale Marino Cappelli, which curves round left and leads you up to the main gate into the lovely little town of Montichiello! It was a very very hot day when we walked there so we immediately stopped at the nice little garden bar on the right just before arriving at the gate and had some very welcome cold beer and ice-cream.

The best beach of the island by far, but also the busiest one. By walk it takes about 15 minutes from the street down to go there. It opens at 8.30. If it is constantly rated the best beach in 'Europe' it must be a reason! The water and colour of the sand are so unique. Speechless. Lampedusa has also the advantage of having a convenient airport to travel from Catania or Palermo, and the norther airports on summer time.

Wonderful gardens in the extensive grounds of Trauttmansdorff Castle. The walks in the different areas are well signposted to ensure you miss nothing. There is a Restaurant and Cafe on site whilst the Castle itself hosts an interesting exhibition about tourism ion the Dolomites.

One of the best beach villages in Riccione, completely renewed, with pool, relax area with wi-fi internet point books and newspapers, jacuzzi (3 pools), nursery, lounge and dancing area, miniclub, non stop entertainment for all ages with professional dancers and entertainers. Located in the centre of Riccione, near viale Dante, bus connection to Rimini.

We had clear weather so it was not to cold the view was awsome we were not able to trekk up to the top crater due to the increased activity and safety standards but you could still hear and see the small eruptions and sulpher yellow about the top crater.The large lava fields are otherworldy the guide was great plenty of good info the bus ride was good to an open bus the guide was real helpfull around etna

This is a really beautiful island next to Siracusa (you can access it by car) with really beautiful streets, a magnificent Piazza del Duomo with beautiful buildings and where you can enjoy Sicilian gastronomy. Its streets are full of wonderful corners, shops and restaurantes... it is worth a visit if you are in the eastern part of Sicily

The Italian lakes are something rather special. And they were special to the Victorians and Edwardians of Great Britain who included them in the Grand Tour. Lake Como is a very deep (up to 1000ft depth) glacial lake created by a retreating glacier and is surrounded by high mountains which seem to rise directly from the water. The scenery left behind is simply stunning and seems to be everywhere around the lake, unlike Lake Garda. The Romans created settlements on the shores and created roads which are still in existence, and most of the small towns. Nowadays there are many fine villas bought up by rich Italian families and Russian millionairs. There is little evidence of any food production or significant industry in the area and it seems to be almost exclusively a holiday and weekend retreat area - hardly surprising given the chocolate box pretty towns like Bellagio and Varenna which attract hoards of tourists in summer. There are many ferry boats plying up and down the lake and these provide a better and more relaxed way to get about. Don't expect to find it easy to read timetables or to know where boats are going to due to the Italian laisse fair attitude to organisation, but it's all part of the experience.

If you stay in holidays in the north west cost of Sardinia, this little beach is a MUST visit place!! Worth driving more than hour to admire this amazing place! Water is nn second to nn! (Even Maldives! Without sea marine life obviously) be prepare to arrive early as parking space in the streets are limited, there is a private parking to in the hill too. You must bring a “stuoia” or get an ombrellone :).
