Turjekeldri Waterfall is the fourth highest waterfall in Lahemaa: water falls down a four-metre sandstone bank of the Pakerort stage. The waterfall is exceptional as it is one of the few waterfalls falling down from sandstone; our waterfalls mostly fall down from a limestone escarpment. The waterfall receives its water from the stream originating from the plateau of Tsitre klint island. The waterfall is approx. 5 metres in height. There are also smaller escarpments (0.2–0.5 m) located upstream the river from the highest escarpment.Just under the waterfall there is Turjekeldri Cave.

Kostivere limestone karst area, where the Joelahtme River flows under the ground, is one of the largest in Estonia – 2.9 km in length and 0.5 km in width and very rich in different interesting karst formations. It is possible to find a lot of little karst caves here. The most frequent formations that can be found here are niches and hollowed-out parts of the riverbank, which represent transitional karst formations between the surface and underground. The most extensive of these are located in the middle part of the karst area. Karst caves also include hollows under natural bridges. There are four caves in Kostivere karst area. The largest of them is Karjakelder, which is 6 m in length, up to 4 m in width and 2.5 m in height.

The "President's hiking trail" is a 10 km-long forest trail in Laane-Viru County that starts in Aegviidu and winds its way through Nelijarve to Janeda. In winter it plays host to the ever more popular "President's hike", in which Arnold Ruutel, President of Estonia from 2001-2006, also takes part. Did you know...? - The trail was named after former Presidents of Estonia, Konstantin Pats and Arnold Ruutel, who came here often. - The first President of the Republic of Estonia, Konstantin Pats, was the man behind the Nelijarve tourism centre: he came up with the idea and funded its construction. He also founded Janeda Agricultural High School. - Arnold Ruutel graduated Janeda School with the class of '49.

Measuring nearly 250 scenic acres, this urban park features the symmetrical Swan Lake and a promenade leading to the Kadriorg Palace.
You can stop by the beautiful palace, visit the President's residence, take you little ones to the amusement park, see the rose garden with roses from all over the world or just stop and say hi to the President's bees.

Within just a 15-minute drive from the center of Tallinn there is a delightful place – the Estonian Open Air Museum that invites you to see rural architecture and get acquainted with village life. The 14 farms of the museum show the visitor the life of families of different income and occupation in the 18th-20th centuries. As in anyreal village, there is a church, an inn, a school, a number of mills, a fire station, a village shop and net sheds by the sea. Although 74 buildings have been brought over so far, the museum is far from being completed; it is constantly changing and developing. You can have good time and also learn something at the Estonian Open Air Museum in any season!
Take a walk through history...hundreds of years of history of this northern country...from early farmers and fishermen, blacksmiths and more...school house, windmill...Excellent explanatory "plaques" in Estonian, Russian and English; some places other European languages. Set in beautiful forest. Take a break and enjoy. So much to learn!!

We had a rental car and spent the whole day driving and walking around different spots in the park on our way from Narva to Tallinn. Beieng Estonia's largest National park it certainly lives up to it's reputation offering a variety of natural landscapes from Bogs to waterfalls and the Gulf of Finland. We visited the Altja Fishing Village, the Viru Bog and the Jagala Waterfall. All different and unique in their own way. Try and time your visit so you can have lunch at Altja Fishing village where there is a nice restaurant. I would recommend 2.5 hours at Altja including lunch. 1-2 hours at the Viru Bog up to the viewing platform. and around 30 minutes at Jagala waterfall. We wish we had more time to try and do a few more walks in the area.
