The highest dune in Europe, a unique landscape with an incredible panoramic view over the ocean, forest and Arcachon Bay but also and more importantly, a living, natural space that needs to be looked after and protected. Since December 2007, the Syndicat Mixte de la Grande Dune du Pilat has been working to protect and preserve this national piece of heritage that belongs to us all. From the top of this giant (109 meters high, 2,7 kilometers long, 500 meters wide), you can see many remarkable sites of the region.
Visited while cycling through France and Spain. Parked up our bikes and walked up the dune and along the crest for magnificent panoramic views over the Gulf of Acheron, absolutely breathtaking, like something from a David Attenborough programme. The colours were startling,a real wow experience and worth the effort to climb up.

Watching birds out of season can be a difficult task but we chose to visit Reserve Ornithologique du Teich at the end of February, mainly because the site is really worth a visit even before the influx of birds in the spring. Just walking around and enjoying the different species of duck that is there at this time, watching the swans grooming, it is all very relaxing and definitely something we all need in these virus times. The full circle in the park takes several hours (6 km) but there are ways to shorten your visit if necessary.

Plenty of space, sweetwater showers, various guarded swimming areas, your choice of clothed or nude bathing, lots of kilometers to play and walk more or less alone, nice waves, fine sand without Arnes - what else can one ask for? We have tried many beaches all around the world and this is our favorite!

Lovely gardens, water features, and a botanic graden tucked away in the back. Large pecan tree and great views of some of the original Maisons built in Boredaux. Worth a walk through the gardens.

This park is absolutely lovely. If you are in Bordeaux, you should take an hour or two to stroll through the beautiful paths, explore the herb garden. Great for people-watching, dog-watching, flower-watching.

The Bourgailh site is a forest of 65 hectares, the green lung near Bordeaux. The walk will get you among oaks, pines and heather. You can also visit a greenhouse with tropical plants and themed gardens weekend during the season from April to sept. Ludic and educational activities around the environmental theme will be also available.
