Situated on 50 acres of previous wastewater utility property, Wakodahatchee is a constructed wetlands that is free to the public. The site features a three-quarter mile boardwalk that crosses between open water pond areas and islands. A part of the South section of the Great Florida Birding Trail, Wakodahatchee is home to an abundance of wildlife as more than 178 bird species have been identified along with turtles, alligators, rabbits, fish, frogs and raccooons.
Beautiful wetlands, for birding can see lots of birds any time of day, but morning is best, they open at 6:30am. Nice easy boardwalk that is about a mile long. I took a bird photography class a couple years ago and the class came here for several days. I have been back many times since. We saw dozens of different types of animals, a cottonmouth snake, marsh bunny, gators big and small, great blue herons, tricolor herons, snowy egrets, great egrets, swamp hens, black bellied whistling ducks, little blue herons. In late January and February there are loads of nesting birds including blue herons, cormorants, anhingas, little blue, tricolor, common moore hens, purple gallinules, ospreys, and hundreds of endangered wood storks, it is really a fantastic place to get great photographs! But parking is limited so often wait in line for a few minutes to get a parking place. Also take water with you, it can get hot.

There it is dont blink! Its a hidden gem, theres a sign but if you dont see it you drive right by! There is parking across the street and if handicapped, turn right into the park and there a few spots. There is a boardwalk that takes you right to the beach, its a short walk where you can rent a cabana or a chair and umbrella. Its very quiet and lovely

Great beach with a quieter vibe. Just down from “Delray Beach”, this is the same piece of ocean, just a more laid-back location, away from the crowd of Atlantic Avenue. Wide beach with beautifully soft sand, the water is warm and inviting. Pack your lunch, get there early or late in the day as parking is pretty limited and set up your beach site. Enjoy. I love this beach! Super clean and often not too crowded. Parking is good and there are showers for rinsing. Great business there to rent chairs and umbrellas.

LAKE IDA DOG PARK FEATURES 2 large dog sections (one open at a time on rotation basis for rest and maintenance) 1 small dog section Double gated entry Paved dog wash station Fido fountain Dog bag dispensers Covered trash cans Restrooms Parking Benches HOURS Sunrise - Sunset CLOSED Thursdays 12:00 noon- 3:00 pm for maintenance
I brought 2 small toy poodles for a romp on Mar.1. There are Lots of trees, a Water station, grassy areas, Covered pavilion, benches just to sit to watch the pooches run and play. Totally protected, with gates designed for one way egress. There are separate areas for the smaller pooches (less than 30 pounds) and for the larger ones. Everyone gets along. There is weekly maintenance done. In addition to the canine areas, there is a playground and numerous pavilions to picnic under. There’s even a boat launch site; Restrooms are reasonably close. All in all, there was a lot of thought given to its construction for maximum use!

This is a great beach with lots of seashells. I am a seashell lover! I collected to my heart's content for the week we were there. The shells are unusual, and are so shiny.

Rode for 2 days. Mostly covered by tree canopy (within Loxahatchee National Refuge) and very well marked trails. The main Trail Head is located off Palm Beach Downs Blvd off of W Atlantic Ave. A great looping 5mi trail – The West Delray Trail – comprised of 20+ blue subsegments, including Fishbowl. few carve outs that include a BMX run and a run of hills and banks at 2nd entrance (north). Trail in very good condition and maintained by local club Force and they were on site each day we were there. Several picnic areas in case of rain. Restroom at main Trail Head. Not much traffic but we were there mid week. No critter sightings. Recommend Deep Woods OFF as the Noseeums were quite bad. Highly recommend and will return.
