Rannerdale Knotts

Reviewed By Kath1722 - Newcastle, United Kingdom

We started the walk from a car park just at the bottom of Rannerdale Bridge and decided to walk around the back of the valley first (High Rannerdale) to see all of the bluebells in full bloom. It is very picturesque and there is a nice beck running down as well. Steadily climbing up, we then took in the views before heading down over High House Crag to Buttermere village for lunch. Our return route followed the path at Mill Beck up through the woods then up to Low Bank. Following the path along the ridge you eventually get to Rannerdale Knotts. There are some steep climbs on this walk and sticks may be required. You do get lovely views over both Buttermere and Crummock Water. The Knotts themselves are fairly rocky so be careful, especially if you are descending this way as we did. As a circular route it was just over 6 miles

A beautiful lake with wonderful views across the rugged fells. The trees were so beautiful in the autumn light. Beware of the naked wild water swimmers...........

Dubwath Silver Meadows

This is a well cared for nature reserve. Ideal for everyone and their pet dog(s) for a half hour walk. There's seating areas and little 'stop off' stations of interest with educational information for children and adults alike. All for Free! As the site is flat, they've designed the reserve, using recycled plastics, to make the wetland area accessible with raised boardwalks. This is also perfect for anyone with a wheelchair or children's buggy to spend quality time alongside nature, just off the main A66, beside the old coaching inn; The Pheasant Inn frequented by William Wordsworth etc... Silver Meadows is one or our favourite places to visit with our pet collie.

Moss Force Waterfall

Reviewed By Tad666

What an amazing Waterfall the highest in Cumbria and quite spectacular. I walk up to the base of the high fall but it was a little slippery with the spray as I said in the title it was in full force, but wouldn't want it any other way, I did most of my photography from the lower level which when you look up to this spectacle it is an absolute treat. Easy parking would imagine busy at some times of the year, and there are spectacular from the falls of the surrounding scenery.
