PLEASE CONTACT US TO ARRANGE A TIME FOR YOUR VISIT AS THIS IS A PRIVATE GARDEN. Nestled in grape country, hidden behind high hedges, lies the private but nationally acclaimed garden of Upton Oaks. Surrounding the 1911 Victorian homestead are gardens that have been recognised as a 'Garden of National Significance' as awarded by the NZ Gardens Trust. The colourful gardens comprise of intimate garden rooms contained within a formal framework of hedges and brick walls. The much photographed 17th century style Knot Garden is a favourite for visitors. Relax on a park bench where you can take in views of the herbaceous borders and pond. A small rustic olive grove with a winding path, leads to large raised vegetable beds and espaliered fruit trees. The blue and white gardens surrounding a French iron gazebo compliment our historic guest house, Laurella cottage at the rear of the property which is available to book for accommdation. Upton Oaks Garden has graced the pages of numerous magazines plus television screens and is visited by many national and international groups each year.
Have been here twice now, many years apart and it is an absolutely wonderful garden. I would recommend it to anyone who is into gardening to visit.

As far as walks go they really don’t get much better than this. We absolutely loved the walk up to Mt Vernon lookout which took about 1.5 hours (including stopping at top and a couple of breathers on way up) - total distance about 6.5kms. Parked at base and the scenery of surrounding hills, tussocks, kowhai and cabbage trees as we walked was outstanding. Not one piece of litter and evidence suggests a well respected walk which is extremely well cared for. Path is super easy and very safe so even if you’re not the fittest person in the world give it a go you’ll thank yourself for it - a must do in Blenheim

We spent an hour or so here on a stunning day having a wander around looking at all the plants. Very well maintained with lots of things to see. Loved the stream running thru.

Seymour Square is a park in central Blenheim just near our hotel Chateau Marlborough. Beautiful fountain which changed colour with flower beds for perfect photography.

I have completed possibly 30 trips that I have photos off, but probably more that than that, as I'm sure I've done trips but not taken photos. I've done trips as part of my job, trips with family, trips on my own, trips with mates, trips with 4WD clubs. Most would be over nighters where we have camped in DOC camps grounds or in DOC huts. I never get tired of the views, the sheer size of the place, the very different "moods". The outstanding beauty is just overwhelming, and photos of the same scene can be vastly different from 1 trip to the next. Every New Zealander should drive through the Molesworth at least once in their lifetime. Thanks to the Molesworth Staff, and thanks to the awesome DOC people that make this awesome piece of kiwianna available to us.
