Established in 1967, when the existing since 1932 nature reserve, was converted into national park. Covers an area of 3749,50 ha, which makes it smallest national park in Slovakia, but still bigger than its Polish counterpart - Pieninski Park Narodowy. Authorities HQ located in Spisska Stara Ves, few miles outside park borders.
