Tønder (German: Tondern) is a town in the Region of Southern Denmark. With a population of 7,595 (as of 1 January 2014), it is the main town and the administrative seat of the Tønder Municipality.

Hojer Mill from 1857 is one of the largest dutch windmills in northern Europe. In the museum you can experience the very well preserved windmill with an almost complete interior. In the two granaries there are exhibitions about the natur and culture of the Tøndermarsk and Wadden Sea. The museum has a small café.

Visit the beautiful Sea Captain's House on Romo. The house is an intact whaler's home from the 1700s. Here, you will find both a huge sperm whale skeleton, a unique view of the Wadden Sea and elaborate decor from the period. It is open for visits at Easter, and in the summer and autumn. The Sea Captain's House on the island of Romo in south-western Jutland is a preserved whaler's home and one of the island's old houses that were once owned by wealthy families. The name of the residence refers to the captains, who in the 17th and early 18th centuries commanded large whaling boats, which went on trading trips and long whaling expeditions in the North Atlantic. The Sea Captain's House has a cosy cafe where you can enjoy views over the Wadden Sea. A day ticket for adults costs 50 DKK, children under 18 years are free. The Sea Captain's House is closed for the Winter, but will open again in May 2020
The Sea Captain's House is located on the island of Romo and is part of the National Museum in Copenhagen. It is a beatifully preserved home of a wealth whaler. Exhibits also include very interesting history about life around the Wadden Sea.
