We targeted this area to visit the Rose Oil area on our way up to Velinko Turnovo, but heard about the art museum. What a pleasant surprise. They have two sections, the first devoted to history which includes neolithic, Thracian, Roman, Turk and finally Bulgaria. Very interesting. Then there is an artists section with great paintings. This is a very affordable and great way to spend a few hours.

The museum is built around the excavations of one of the oldest and best preserved neolithic dwellings in Europe, comprising just two rooms: the main one with the excavated dwelling, and a smaller one in the basement, exhibiting various artifacts from the neolithic and bronze age. At the entrance you can buy some books and souvenirs - at least the brochures will come in handy, as the custodian does not speak English (we did not test him for other languages), and the only information in English is the key on a site plan.
