After a few years patronizing the museum in the Roppongi neighbourhood, it was time to visit My wife and I are huge, huge fans of Snoopy (and the Peanuts gang). We've visited the old museum, in Roppongi, half a dozen times over the last 2-3 years, and on each trip, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Being in a museum replete with all things Snoopy was a trip filled with joy, laughter, excitement, and fun. With the opening of the new museum in Machida, it was, naturally, something that was marked and stamped on our joint calendar. Our first visit to the place was in November 2019, just before it opened to the general public. We took a trip to the Granberry Park to familiarize ourselves with the place; it was a big, open-air mall, with quite a number of stores to cater to the avid shopper. Of course, our main goal was to locate the Snoopy Museum, so we made a beeline for it. At that juncture, the Museum was close to completion, but the adjacent restaurant was already open. Obviously, we had our lunch there - where else? The food was good, but a little expensive. It was par for the course - the meals at the old Museum in Roppongi served similar fare, at a comparative price. Service was good, and a smattering of Snoopy memorabilia all around the restaurant afforded a thoroughly pleasant dining experience. The grand episode came about 3 months later, in February. We finally made a trip down to the (now-open) Snoopy Museum, and it was fantastic, as expected. For any Snoopy fan, you'll find yourselves enchanted by the sheer volume of Peanuts-related material - from comic strips, to backstories, from wallpapers to figurines. However, it is, after all, a museum dedicated to an anthropomorphic dog appearing in a (world-famous) comic strip, so there's going to be a lot of reading to be done if you're going to enjoy Snoopy. His natural form is in the pages of a newspaper, and Schultz's humor is often dry and dark. If you don't appreciate his wit, you may not enjoy Peanuts at all. With that said, Snoopy is the centerpiece of this museum, and it won't take a lot for fans to enjoy the World-Famous Beagle in all his natural glory. Take a trip down the years through all of his adventures and in myriad guises, too! Snoopy will regale you with his very sharp wit; enjoy them with a side dish of supporting characters - from Woodstock to Charlie Brown, from Lucy to Peppermint Patty. They are all here, and you'll certainly enjoy them! There is also a massive Snoopy mural on the roof - a great place to take a nice photo with your loved ones, or even yourself! After all, there are about a 100 different Snoopys painted on the wall; take your pick, and he'll be your photo buddy! Lastly, the gift shop is a great place to pick up a souvenir or 2. Being huge fans of Snoopy, my wife and I typically spend upwards of a few hundred dollars every time we're in a Snoopy-themed shop (e.g. Snoopy Town), and this time, it was no exception. We picked up a few unique memorabilia, and a handful of plushies, too! All in all, this was a great trip, and I'd heartily recommend any Snoopy (or Peanuts) fan to pay the Museum a visit. It's a short trip from central Tokyo, but you won't regret it.
