Had a 3 night stay in Bed in a Shed BnB. Fantastic place, great hosts Andrew and Carolyn makes you feel at home and nothing was too much trouble for them. Full breakfast provisions were excellent and great coffee pods and teas. Breakfast had lots of variety and didn’t want for anything. Microwave, toaster, coffee pod machine included. Only other item would have like would have been a electrical frypan and saucepan to boil water or pasta if cooking in as outside bbq one night didn’t work too well because of the cold and windy conditions, but if not into making your own dinner there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Bed was comfortable and great outdoor verandah over looking the vineyards. Loved the interaction with the hosts animals, goat, sheep, dog. Good outdoor bbq area, great shower and loved all the decorations within. Andrew has doesn’t a fantastic job in constructing the place with all the recycled materials. Location close to numerous wineries and attractions in the area. Riesling Trail about a km from the accommodation and great track to ride a push bike along. Right next door is Bed in a Shed Too, which may not suit all having adjoining neighbours so close but didn’t both us. Overall would definitely recommend a stay at this property.

Burra Railway Station

Reviewed By kpiddy - Brisbane, Australia

A short drive away from the town centre of Burra is the impressive Burra Railway Station, the building is a reminder of years gone by and the romance of rail travel. The original 1870 wooden station was replaced in 1883 with this stone building and an accompaning refreshment room. Burra was connected to Adelaide, Broken Hill and Perth, passenger services were discontinued in 1986 and grain transportation in 1999. After years of neglect the station was brought back to life by the very hard work of dedicated volunteers, the only building structure missing (which can be seen in photographs) is the arched roof which covered two tracks and platforms. The station is open for public viewing at select times and staffed is by volunteers. There was plenty to see and read about, the history of the station, the railway, with plenty of information boards, historical photographs and rail travel memorabilia, the volunteer was also informative. Also inside the building is a small museum showcasing the nearby Redbanks Conservation Park Diprotodon Fossil Sites and a very interesting display on the little local native animal, the Pygmy Bluetongue Lizard. Entry to the building is by donation, in the foyer were a few locally crafted/baked souvenirs available for purchase.

Burra Town Hall

Reviewed By 619jeffry - Essendon, Australia

Burra Town Hall is a heritage building that dates from the days when Burra was one of the richest copper mines in the Britisn Empire. Many descendants of the Cousin Jacks (Cornish miners) can still be found in South Australia. The Town Hall is magnificently decorated. It hs worn the years well; it is still used for civic functions. Burra has a number of interesting sights, you should definitely see the Town Hall if you are in the area.
