Dubai is a destination that mixes modern culture with history, adventure with world-class shopping and entertainment. Catch a show at the Dubai Opera, see downtown from atop the Burj Khalifa and spend an afternoon along Dubai Creek exploring the gold, textile and spice souks. If you’re looking for thrills, you can float above the desert dunes in a hot air balloon, climb aboard a high-speed ride at IMG Worlds of Adventure or skydive over the Palm Jumeirah.

When people think of Dubai, they think of shimmering beaches, luxurious hotels and shopping sprees; and the last thing that comes to mind are museums. However, there is a whole other cultural side to Dubai that exists, and this is where the Salsali Private Museum comes in.The Salsali Private Museum (SPM) is the first Private Museum of Contemporary Art in Dubai, and in the region. Located in the Alserkal Avenue, and in the heart of the local Art district of industrial Al Quoz, the museum was opened in 2011 by its founder, Ramin Salsali. The museum is the realization of his dream to open a place to share his extensive private collection with the public in Dubai. The collection consists of over 400 artworks including paintings, installations and video art, to name a few.The addition of SPM to the list of cultural attractions in Dubai on the Trip Advisor website would help more people aware of the more serious, cultural dimension Dubai has to offer. Therefore, we are very interested in adding the Salsali Private Museum to your list of sights online and in your next edition of the Dubai book, as Trip Advisor is now one of the world's best and most renowned travellers' guides.

This is the perfect place for anyone who enjoys art. Hours and hours just walking through amazing installations done by creatives. As an artist, really amazing for inspiration.

What a breath taking place! This is one of those of hidden gems that Dubai, in all its glory, bristles with. Tucked away on an obscure road in Al Quoz, this Aladdin's Cave of beautiful hand crafted things from all 4 corners of the world stuns and delights. Great artisans from Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, Burma, Dubai, Morocco, Philippines, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Cambodia, UAE and Vietnam have their artistic creations on resplendent display for your consideration. It is not a museum as such but rather an old curiosity shop of intriguing, regal antiques, rare art objects, trinkets, fabrics, furniture, decorations, household goods, and a mesmerizing plethora of gift ideas. A peaceful and perfect place to shop for gifts rather than buying cheap, tacky tourist souvenirs elsewhere in dusty markets and over zealous vendors. Much of the things are hand made or antiques, so they cannot come cheaply, understandably. I was greeted by a genial South Indian man called Basheer who was gracious and knowledgeable about the origins of the beautiful objects that the place was brimming with. I bought a simple but charming hand made mahogany pen case, which Basheer was kind enough to give me a big concession on. I think this place is delightful and fey and I will be going back regularly to rummage through the glimmering treasure trove to find a bargain and a rare, curious art object.
