No other part in Greece combines scenic hiking trails in stupendous mountain scenery overlooking the sea with an incredible wealth of cultural heritage and notable archaeological sites and monuments. This is the place where gods and heroes walked the earth for the first time. Filoxenia (hospitality) is very strong here, the food, olive oil and wine are Greece's best. Locals claim to have the best of everything to give and that’s no myth. This is where the remains of the famous classical city of Sparta are, against the impressive backdrop of the Taygetos mountains, the highest mountain in the Peloponnese. The Spartan trail, as part of the European walking route E4 is a meeting point for naturalists, photography lovers, hikers, mountaineers and climbers from all over the world. Beautiful forests, fragrant shrubs, gorges and ravines make hiking here a fascinating experience.

A great 6-day-kayaking-tour. We had good and bad weather, however, the guides George, Ana and Norbert always found a perfect alternative, like pool-training for wet exit, eskimo roll, etc or an alternative tour. All guides had been very supportive in every way and never-ending-patience with the pool-training. All of us could improve our kayaking skills a tremendous lot. George has a lot of stories (including history) to tell. We were spoiled with picknicks on remote beaches and a choice of excellent accomodation. But most important - we had a lot of fun in that week. A real highlight. I will definitely go back for more paddling next year with Explore Messinia.

With a varied landscape of rugged mountains, gorges and green valleys, the path passes through scenic villages such as Stemnitsa, Dimitsana, Elati, Vytina, Nympassia and includes eight sections with different levels of difficulty and length, which are worth to explore. My guide Vasile met me at the Acropolis metro stop, we headed to the Acropolis, and I was the only person that had signed up for a tour that day so it was a solo tour. We stopped at the Acropolis, Temple of Hephaestus, Greek Agora, Lycabettus Hill, the glass running man, and the Olympic Stadium in my half day tour. 100% worth it, got some great photos and better memories, and would happily suggest them again.
