Sometimes referred to as the capital of Africa, Addis Ababa is a buzzing hub of economic, social and political activity and home to such notable offices as the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The diversity of its people is reflected in the many churches, mosques and museums, including the Ethiopian National Museum which houses the fossilized skeleton of Dinkinesh, or Lucy, the Australopithecine discovered in the area in the 1970s.

The core of the country’s tourist industry is formed by the well-defined ‘historical circuit’ through northern Ethiopia. It is probably no exaggeration to say that 90% of travelers to Ethiopia base the bulk of their itinerary around this circuit, and rightly so. There is nothing in sub-Saharan Africa that prepares the visitor for the wealth of historical and cultural treasures, both ancient and living, contained in northern Ethiopia. The circuit pivots around four cities, all very different from each other, Bahir Dar, Gondar, Axum, and Laibela.

This has to be one.of.the worst airports I have visited.the shortage of seats and lack of decent food is quite remarkable for a international airport.

My partner and I had a wonderful day at the Zuqualla Mountain. Joseph and Nico guided us on a private visit. They took care of everything, and showed us local jems. It felt like we were road tripping with our buddies - it was above and beyond! Really great service, it is not the last time, can definitely recommend! Thanks

Northern Ethiopia The northern Ethiopia is also Known as the Historical Circuit, there are over two millennia’s worth of ancient treasures scattered about, from giant obelisks and hidden tombs at Aksum to a collection of castles in and around Gonder, to unique churches in Lalibela, Tigray, Lake Tana and many other places. Not to be outdone by human mastery, Mother Nature really let her creative juices flow here. The Danakil Depression, an esteemed destination among adventure travellers, features a permanent lava lake and a bright-yellow sulphuric plain, while the Simien Mountains wrinkle the land with canyons and peaks with a beauty you’ll struggle to find anywhere else in Africa.

My boyfriend and I traveled for 3 weeks in Ethiopia. Because we decided to travel independently, we reached a point in which we were a little lost. At this point we received Alex's phone number. We hoped to get a few tips from Alex about the area we were in, but in the end Alex not only gave us info on the area we were stuck in, but helped us plan the whole rest of our trip. He gave us creative ideas on how we can realize the exact trip we had hoped for without compromising. Not only was Alex exceedingly professional he was also kind and caring, always checking up on us throughout our whole journey. Rarely do you meet someone who is willing to be so helpful and in our case we were super lucky because if it weren't for Alex our trip would have looked very different and we probably wouldnt have succeeded in doing it. So 100% Recommended, Thank you Alex for all your help and kindness. Eli and Doron

World Heritage–listed Harar is a place apart. With its 368 alleyways squeezed into just 1 sq km, it’s more reminiscent of Fez in Morocco than any other city in the Horn. Its countless mosques and shrines, animated markets, crumbling walls and charming people will make you feel as if you’ve floated right out of the 21st century. It’s the east’s most memorable sight and shouldn’t be missed. As if that wasn’t enough, there are many chances to get up close and personal with wild hyenas. It’s a rare traveller who doesn’t enjoy it here.

I traveled to Ethiopia on my own and while I was there I decided to purchase Simien Image Tour & Travel's "Hawassa and Rift Valley Lakes – Two Days Tour." I had difficulties with paying because I was new to experience of financial transactions in Ethiopia, being it was my first time visiting, and my bank in America was having issues with processing some transactions. Alexander Kemal was extremely patient with me and eventually everything was worked out. The morning of the tour's first day the driver was prompt with picking me up from the hotel and we were off. When he told me we were doing to get my tour guide I nonchalantly thought to myself "for what reason!" I wasn't concerned about having a tour guide, just getting to Hawassa and seeing what was on the way there. To my surprise Candy Walker, my tour guide, was an excellent guide. She is very knowledgeable on the history and various cultures of Ethiopia, therefore I learned a lot in two days. Buze, the driver, was the perfect driver for this road trip and was fabulous DJ! He knew all the scenic stops, all the best foods to order whenever we ate, where to get the best buna in Shashamene, and he's even a decent dancer while driver. I saw and experienced way more than I thought I would and I am eternally thankful that I happened to call the business that day. One business transaction, and a two day tour was enough to establish the foundation for a several friendships that I am appreciative of. I will definitely be recommending your business to any and everyone.

We were lucky in travelling at a time with few tourists but had a fantastic time. The company was well organised and very honest. We had good information on the trip and what was expected. Our driver/guide was the perfect balance between giving us interesting information but at the same time allowing us to explore and ask questiions that interested us. The visits to traditional tribes were senstively done and visits were playful and fun. While we were in Addis the company took good care of us. Gasaw was very professional and attentive to our needs. He took us to a very traditional coffee shop which we woud never have found on our own . The traditional dinner dancing and singing was truely memoral.

Bale Mountains National Park is suitably a walking, trekking and hiking area for hikers, culture and nature enthusiasts, wildlife watchers, researchers and more. The park is known for being home to the Ethiopian wolf, mountain nyala, giant molerat and Bale monkey. UNESCO has estimated that more mammal species would become extinct were the habitats of the Bale Mountains to decline than if any other area of equivalent size on the globe were to disappear and, when this is combined with rare amphibian species, endemic birds and spectacular flora, it is easy to see why the park is designated as a Biodiversity Hotspot by Conservation International.

I've got the best possible service, as for me. I had a really good guide and great driver. He was very attentive: I did video on the way with opened windows and driver closed window for safety and said me I can continue to video street life. I liked traditional clothing market a lot: if you want to have really beautiful souvenir from Ethiopia, I think Shiromeda ( I'm not sure, if I wrote it correctly..) is the best possible place)) I really highly appreciative for the service I had. We visited Mercato market and I felt totally safe there: without a guide I would never go there. But with the guide it was very interesting and safe visit. The tour is flexible and it's great: you can choose what is interesting for you. We bought good coffee on the way and also I've tasted avocado and mango juice)) The owner of company is great and treated me in the best way)) Highly recommended Ethio Travel and Tours for your tours through Ethiopia and Addis.

Over the centuries a series of churches of differing sizes and architectural styles were carved into cliff-faces and rocky-outcrops, many still in use today. Whilst following Ethiopia’s classic northern circuit through Lake Tana’s monasteries, Gondar’s castles, the Simien Mountains and Lalibela’s monolithic churches, we get off the beaten path and explore this beautiful region in the heart of Ethiopian history.Journey along Ethiopia's magnificent northern circuit .

expat in Addis , My family and I had a fantastic experience with EthioTours . Had a fantastic morning tour on lake Tana . Beautiful sunrise and a fantastic breakfast. The guide was really knowledgeable about all the animals we saw and explained about the fishermen and what they were doing. Saw plenty of hippos too! It was an amazing experience, we visited three beautiful islands . We would like to thank Melese for showing us all unique areas and sharing the stories . Private tour was absolute best way to relax and see the beauty of the lake. Highly recommended !
