San Diego embodies laid-back California culture, complete with a Boardwalk, surfing communities, and outstanding Mexican food. Breathe in the fresh ocean air at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, then gobble down a fresh fish taco at a La Jolla seafood joint. The naval aircrafts at the USS Midway Museum will have you standing at attention. A free Sunday concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion is the perfect way to unwind after a Saturday night bar-hop in the thumping Gaslamp Quarter.

One of three drive-in theatres in the area, South Bay offers three big screens to choose from.
This was my first time at a drive-in movie theater. My husband came up with the idea while we were visiting San Diego during the Covid shut downs. It was nice to have an activity to do outside of the hotel, and watch a new release. We went on Wednesday, December 30. During winter break, and a couple days before New Year’s. Had read reviews mentioning to show up early if you wanted a choice of your favorite spots (said to show up an hour early). We were debating what time to go, but decided just to get there a half an hour early before the show time. It was a 6 o’clock show. Saw Croods 2. Got there, and there were no lines to get in. For our choice of movie, we still really had our pick of spots. Probably less than 20 people already there. The bathrooms were really clean, and you could smell all the disinfectant. The snack bar opened up about 15 minutes before movie, and had an amazing selection! The usual movie theater snacks, candy, and drinks, plus a pretty decent Mexican food menu. All reasonably priced, but cash only. Movie never really got too crowded, and everybody was really respectful. It was a great experience for me not knowing what to expect. Battery never went dead on my car, though we did fully turn on the engine for a few minutes twice to make sure it didn’t die.

The Angelika Film Center-Carmel Mountain is a state-of-the-art luxury cinema highlighting the best in quality film and events. Designed with sophistication, the sleek and modern architecture features an elegant lobby, comfortable mezzanine lounge, and lush outdoor patio. Through diverse film programming and a creative menu of craft beverages and bites, the Angelika offers a unique gathering place for the vibrant San Diego community.
Couldn't wait for the Carmel Mountain location to open last summer. What a great experience. Yes, it's pricey and worth every penny. Lovely and comfortable outdoor patio. Good mix of foreign and domestic films. Delicious popcorn. 50% all food when you present your ticket stub the same day. Clean. Friendly, helpful staff. And, comfy recliner seats. My very favorite cinema.

Took my 2 Grandchicks while parents were at work and took my grown son ("Daddy") for his 42nd birthday and dinner IN the movie--- which is always a treat. The burger and fries are THE BEST! BIG burger, restaurant sized, and the ice cream is really creamy , not icey... Always a nice, polite and quiet crowd of folks go there. The best movie place to recline back and enjoy...
