I saw this right after getting out of the Uji JR train station. Tickled pink by it! So unique, and heightened the excitement to discover Uji. Dont miss it if youre in Nara and Kyoto. Make sure to pass by Uji. Had the best green tea ice cream there, and this unique post symbolizes the quaint character of Japanese towns which are just outside famous tourist cities, waiting to be discovered, We walked from the JR station to the Saisyo-in Temple which took around 15 minutes then walked back passing by the Statue of Murasaki Shikibu right beside the Uji-bashi bridge. If coming from Nara, Uji is also the perfect jump off to Inarri in Kyoto as it is just along the route to Kyoto station.
