Encompassing two of the Netherlands’ three largest cities (Rotterdam and The Hague), Zuid-Holland (South Holland) is also home to important towns like Leiden, Gouda and Delft. And many lovely smaller towns dot the gorgeous green landscape. Alphen aan den Rijn has several interesting attractions, including Dutch history theme park Archeon. Picturesque Kinderdijk, birthplace of the legend of the Cat and the Cradle, also has many windmills that together are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A historic city walk in the historic center of Gouda. You will walk in a small group of max. 20 people. The experienced guides show you the most beautiful and interesting places in Gouda. The small scale of the city is attractive for walking. You will be surprised what Gouda has to offer. You are welcome. Robert

The reason why this 1953 statue and its sculptor Ossip Zadkine is so well appreciated by the people of Rotterdam is it captures exactly the feelings of the people after the Nazi bombing of the heart of the city in 1940. Powerlessness and desperation about the bombs and the devastation they caused. They took our heart away. The boy from Smolensk (Belarus) who became French citizen Zadkine never experienced bombings as he escaped to the USA in time in 1941, but still his strong sense of empathy helped him to create the sculpture. His style is clearly influenced by cubism and he may also have been inspired by Picasso's 1937 painting of Guernica, another testament to Nazi cruelty.

A visit to Delft is not complete without walking over Delft's own tower bridge. Someone actually lives here!
