Think you need an ocean for a beach? Think again. There are miles and miles of sandy lakefront beaches in Michigan (thanks to the four Great Lakes that border it). The west coast of Michigan has especially nice beaches—try a rental in Muskegon, Grand Haven or Saugatuck. You won’t need a car when visiting Mackinac Island. In fact, they’re not allowed—this lovely Victorian resort town is pedestrian-only.

For the better part of 100 years, the iron mines were Ironwood's defining characteristic. In appreciation to all those who worked below ground and produced the town's signature commodity, the Miner's Mural was created. It is dedicated to all those who worked beneath the earth, as especially to those who lost their lives underground. Stop over to the mural and pay your respect to these founders.

The Renaissance mans plans to sculpt a 24-foot bronze horse were never realized until an American sculptor created two models based on da Vincis drawings, one of which graces the Frederik Meijer Gardens.
The horse is so impressive, then you read the history, the care the accurracy, in a setting that allows memories without distractions. A must see among the many things to do at Fred Meijer Gardens.

The mighty Ausable river offers many spectacular scenic overlooks and Lumbermans Monument in Iosco County is one of the best. Take a drive along River Rd from M65 to the West and Oscoda to the East and enjoy Iargo Springs, Conquers Monument and Lumbers Monumets. All beautifl.
