Many visit the site of President Kubitschek’s memorial, featuring a tastefully inscribed plaque in honor of the beloved leader.
One of the most interesting sights in a city full of architectural wonders is the Memorial JK. I took a taxi to get here from the hotel area and then went for a long walk back, past several other interesting places. Considered as the president, who achieved the most of all for his country, Joscelino Kubitschek (often just known as 'JK') is also seen by many as the 'father of modern Brazil'. Not the least he stands behind the foundation of the new capital, Brasilia. Trained as a medical doctor this man from Minas Gerais, who as his family name betrays is a descendant - from his mother's side - of Czech immigrants, very soon started a successful political career. After he was killed at a car accident in 1976 soon later a mausoleum-memorial was built in his honour - with Oscar Niemeyer as the architect. Besides the tomb in a crypt with special light effect can be seen rooms with various personal items of his and of his wife Sarah like furniture, books, dresses, letters and many photos showing him with people like JFK, Marlon Brando, Fidel Castro, André Malraux and many many others. It all gives an insight into the man's life and also of his period in general.

In the top of the City is installed Christ the redeemer the most wanted touristic sides of Brazil and Rio de Janeiro. Biggest and most famous scripture Art Deco of the world, the Christ statue started to be planned in 1921 and it was developed by the engineer Heitor da Silva Costa over 6 years of job, from 1925 to 1931, the opening year of the monument. Located at Parque Nacional da Tijuca, 710 meter above the sea level, where anybody can appreciate one of the most beautiful views of the city. Over all 220 steps that lead to the famous statue feet, it was elected one of the Seven Wonders of the World made by formal voting in 2007 by the Swiss Institution New 7 Wonders Foundation. The monument is accessible by train, van or car. To get into the monument, there’s a nice ride by train that, during 20 minutes, it crosses Mata Atlantica until Corcovado’s top. The internet connection up there is good fre wi-fi and is a very safe place and LGBT friendly.
Don’t care wether the weathers good or bad you can’t come to Rio and not do this excursion- usually part of a multi experience ie Sugar Loaf - to stand there and see this magnificent sculpture with absolutely stunning views is breathtaking You can visit the small chapel at the bottom or just take in the views - selfies are obligatory mind-

If you are walking the beaches of Santos the point at Jose Menino divides Praia do Gonzaga from Praia do Itararé, At this point is the Monument 100 Years of Japanese Immigration by artist Tomie Ohtakere. Until you are right up to it you don't realize how immense this is. Although i saw some energetic people climbing on it, to me its mostly a place to walk to. If I hadn't walked there I wouldn't have seen the surfing museum, or the number of people surfing at this area - for me worth spending a bit of time observing a young family teaching the kids how to surf.

Best place in town to go for a ride. There is a bike lane behind the bars and restaurants that is usually safe and well taken care.
