Bergamo is a northern Italy treasure. Dating from 49 BC, Bergamo has two centers: the Alta (upper) city and the Bassa (lower) city, connected by a funicular and walking trails. For historic sites, go to Alta for the Piazza Vecchia, the Cattedrale di Bergamo e Battistero, and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore Baptistry, as well as the quirky mausoleum of Rastelli, the world famous juggler. Bassa is more modern and residential, and boasts Via 20 Settembre - the shopping district.

One of the most remarkable works of Giacomo Manzu. The monument, built and donated to the city by Giacomo Manzu in 1977, is located in the center of Bergamo Bassa. The monument is about 3 meters high, made of bronze. On the main side of the monument there is a killed young man hanging upside down with a standing woman, wife or mother next to him, on the other side is a dedication by the sculptor is engraved. It is one of the most beautiful and important modern art sculptures.
