The fitting memorial to the unsung heroes of the Merchant Navy, sitting on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin. Often overshadowed by the military in historic records and tales, and yet the backbone of the survival of the Australia and all Allied nations in both World Wars and in most conflicts throughout history. Lest we forget.

A beautiful location and memorial. Words in stone written by children, wives, work mates about there lost ones. Great to see 'aboriginal assistants' (trackers) included. Very emotional if you know some of those people named. Every visitor to Canberra short visit and pay homage to those there.

Initially nothing special to look at until one reads the symbolism then nothing more needs to be said. These are the Diggers who have made Australia proud for over a century.

A World Peace Bell one of 24 in the World. A 365 kg Temple style Bell hung in dramatic pavilion on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin
