It’s a very big train station. Reminds me of Londons British rail stations. It’s the gateway to any destination, easily connects you to metro to and from hotel. Also download China train app so you can see times you will not be able to purchase ticket in advance if a foreigner. No credit cards must have cash. Unless you have Alipay. And must have passport to purchase tickets if a foreigner. Welcome to high speed trains they way to travel in China for long distance to major city to city. Can get expensive if traveling in business class which is the way to go. For me it’s privacy and place to relax with out all the load phone calls everyone is making.

There is no better way to get around Beijing than on the subway. We bought a subway card at the airport - 20 yuan deposit - and caught endless subways over the next week - including a trip to the great wall ay Badaling and several buses - total cost about 100 yuan or $20

A very impressive building design. It was so big it was like an international airport. The place is very organised and even for us who speak no Mandarin, it was easy to navigate.

this has to be the best way to traverse the huge city of Shanghai, we were shocked to see how far out our booked hotel was so we decided to get the 3 day metro pass, just 80 juan, (about £9 / $10) what incredible value we used it 10 times a day for the 3 days and the system works incredibly well, lots of trains, short waiting times, spotlessly clean (everywhere) and impressive carriages. all well sign posted with english subtitles, we had a tricky job getting the english language version of the metro map, managing to get one in on elf the tourist info centres, life was much easier then.

Getting the 2 day pass was really worthwhile if you want to explore different parts of the city. Just avoid the rush hours as it could be very packed.

The Chengdu metro system is very easy to use; ticketing machines with an English option, many directional signs at each stop, stop announcement in Chinese/English, and line stops on the metro carriages marked in Chinese/English.

No stress, you find indications in English, each station that has other connections you you will easily find your new line. One ticket takes you on all lines. Recently in Kyoto and found that it was so difficult and time wasting for all the opposite reasons that they should learn from Shenzhen.
