Montreal beckons travelers with its French charm and booming cultural landscape. In Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is a vision of Frank Gehry architecture and national artistic treasures. The gleaming mountain ranges of Banff set a stunning backdrop for an exploration of the Canadian Rockies.

We parked our car at the hotel and didn't get in it again until it was time to go home. Banff is very easy to get around on foot. Bus fare is only $2 per ride or you can purchase an all day pass for $5. Definitely the best way to get to the gondola, Banff Springs hotel or Sulphur Mountain hot springs.

UP Express

I travel extensively and always use the UP Trip takes about 1/2 hour from downtown Tips -If you have a Presto card you save $3 -A Presto card allows you to skip the line to buy tickets - which can be very long (20 people in Friday) -it is NOT convenient unless you are stopping right downtown or at 2 other minor stops. If you have luggage and are staying in midtown, a cab may be cheaper. -if you have 4 or more in your group a cab is cheaper - but longer.

Canada Line

this train line makes it so easy to visit Vancouver, get downtown and then back to the airport. Quick, inexpensive and easy to use. and now you can use your credit card to enter the train - no more lining up for tickets; no more figuring out the number of zones - just tap in and tap out and your card is automatically billed. The only drawback on the credit card system is if you want to pay for two people - it doesn't work. Each need their own card. You need to buy tickets if you want two people to pay using one card.

Montreal Metro

Reviewed By 476jael - Long Island, United States

During our stay in Montreal near Old Montreal, we saw many attractions nearby by walking around. We also criss crossed the infamous Underground City to visit many attractions. But to visit the attractions beyond walking distance, we decided to use Montreal Metro. From the ticket vending machine inside “Place-D’-Armes” station, we bought 1-day tickets. Then, we started our planned metro trips in the following sequence: (I) Visit “Cathedral of Marie-Reine-du-Monde”: We boarded an Orange Line metro train (to “Cote Vertu” direction) at “Place-D’-Armes” station, and got off at Bonaventure Station (2nd stop). (II) Visit “Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal”: After visiting Cathedral of Marie-Reine-du-Monde, we returned to Bonaventure metro station to board an Orange Line metro train (“Cote Vertu” direction) to “Snowdon” station, where we transferred to a Blue Line metro train (“St. Michel” direction) to “Cote-des-Neiges” station (1st stop). (III) We returned to “Place-D’-Armes” station. Montreal Metro trains and stations were clean, safe, and efficient. The signs were well placed and clear. The metro stations with signs in French reminded us of Paris metro stations: For example, Sortie (Exit), Correspondance (Connection/Transfer). Many escalators in the metro stations made the metro travel quite easy for everyone.

Travelled round trip between Kingston and Union Station, Toronto in business class to attend a Toronto Raptors game. This was the best decision that I have made for this route. Not only was the trip comfortable, the food exceptional and the service excellent, but I was relaxed at the end of every trip leg. Much better than having to be concerned about winter driving on Hwy 401. Would I do this again ? Definitely yes as it made the outing much more enjoyable.

Calgary Transit

Reviewed By silverbrook - London, Canada

Calgary's transit system is one that is to be envied. The city seems to take public transportation seriously and has created an efficient system using buses, rapid transit buses, shuttles and C-Trains to move people around, especially from the periphery to the core. The C-Train stations have parking making it easier to take your car to the station and train downtown, than it would be to try to drive downtown and attempt to find parking. There is an added perk to the C-trains in that the downtown rides are free - ideal for tourists wanting to explore the area without a great cost for transportation. I only took one bus during my visit and it was from the C-train station to my destination. The bus stops were fairly easy to find and the bus was on time and the driver was helpful in assisting me to find my stop. I found that there was plenty of time on my ticket to get from my starting point to my destination, so I only had to pay the one fare.

GO Transit

Reviewed By buffalob330

Low-cost, easy and comfortable with trains every half-hour. We used to drive in and I dreaded it. Since "discovering" the GO train, we go to Toronto much more often. It's a great solution- no more stress from crazy traffic and hunting for expensive parking. The PRESTO card makes it super easy to use the system and I like the way the card works on the TTC as well.
