Witold pit shaft is listed in the register of historic monuments. The history of this place began in the second half of the xviii century and is connected with hard coal excavation (the excavation ended in 1993). Nowadays the witold pit shaft is transformed into cultural and congressional centre. There is a mining memorial hall and a watchtower in the former building of pithead .

Small group of rocks close to the main ridge in Karkonosze mountain, with superb view, basically 360 degrees. Absolutely best way to get there is to hike from schronisko Śląski Dom to the west, following red trail, called Główny Szlak Sudecki, which is the longest trail in Polish Sudetes mountains. If you do that hike, you will walk right on the edges of two major post-glacial cirques with lakes in both of them. Słonecznik is also a junction of two other trail, a yellow and green ones - both leave different starting points in the town of Karpacz, then cross each other in place called Polana, and from there, again following different paths (the yellow one passes another fantastic group of rocks called Pielgrzymy), so they can be used as a round trip from Karpacz. But be aware, that some trails are likely to be closed for some parts of the year, due to different subjects of nature protection (the green trail for the whole of April and May, due to protection of black grouse), also the red trail follows different path in winter, as it would be too dangerouos to walk on huge amounts of snow overhanging the ridges o mentioned cirques.

One of most significant peaks in Karkonosze mountains, marked with a mountain hut right on top of it. Surprisingly Szrenica is only 27 on the list of Karkonosze highest peaks, but because of its distinction and being so high over surrounding hills (also because of the mentioned hut) it serves in western Karkonosze same purpose, as much higher Śnieżka in eastern Karkonosze - it is a landmark. Many marked walking paths on both, Polish and Czech parts (some of them closed in winter, some use different paths on snow - all of that due to the danger of avalanches), and there's another surprise here: even if Szrenica is a part of the main ridge in Karkonosze, which is also a line of the state border, its peak is moved slightly to the north from the ridge, meaning it is entirely on Polish side - by the decision of nature forces. For people less willing to walk steep slopes - not far from the top there's a top station of a chair lift from Szklarska Poręba (two stages with change over half way through). For people willing to spend the night high in the mountains: there's that hut on top of Szrenica, there's another just below on Polish side, another one on Czech side, also many more at the bottom of the peak. Superb views from th top, large parts of Karkonosze on both sides of the ridge can be seen, also a view towards Góry Izerskie mountain group. Basically a must do, when in Karkonosze.
