Centrally located Umbria's principal cities include Spoleto, Assisi, and Terni. The capital, Perugia, is famed for its chocolate. Take a tour bus or prepare for daredevil Italian drivers if you opt to rent a car. Assisi's Basilica has a host of treasures, including works by Giotto. The town is also home to the crypt of St. Clare, patron saint of television. St. Francis' meditation retreat is in the mountains to the north. Classes at Velia's Cooking Style in Terni make good use of local produce.

Paolo and his family are amazing hosts: they provided us with everything we needed, they definitely exceeded our expectations! You'll find a perfectly clean room, equipped with all the amenities, in a fairytale place (a wood on a hill). In front of your room you will find an outdoor patio just for you (we opted for a take away dinner in order to enjoy the meal right there, it was so beautiful and peaceful we couldn't miss the opportunity). Also, breakfast was delicious ?

Lovely, you can breath peace a love around! Roses everywhere, the staff is just amazing. Rooms are very comfortable and classic. Ask Sabrina where to make a oil tasting (the best) and have the best food in town. Is amazing for couples, family, friends! Don’t forget to do their wine tasting (omg), best wine in Italy!

A residence occupied by the same family since 1788, the Angels Mongalli Nieri, who have traditions passed down through the centuries and that, since 15 years, have opened their home for hospitality. The kitchen, furniture, hospitality and atmosphere have remained unchanged over time. Each room is different and wind up two different structures joined by a roof garden. Start your day with a breakfast buffet with typical products from Umbria, prepared by pastry.
This is a lovely old-world hotel affiliated with an amazing restaurant. I might have gladly returned to this hotel if it hadn't been for a 107 euro fine for unloading my bags at the hotel. The hotel said they have an arrangement with the local police to allow cars into the old city to load or unload luggage at the hotel. The person at the hotel desk explained they contact the police to let them know when cars are driving in. But alas, six months later, I received a fine for illegally driving my car to the hotel to unload my suitcases. I asked the hotel for help in contacting the local police, but they ignored me. So if you choose to stay at this hotel, be careful about their claims that it's all right to bring your car into the center. I feel deceived by the hotel and disappointed they made no effort to resolve the problem.

The "Vecchio Granaio" is a restored old stone farmhouse, an enchanting place in the Umbrian countryside, to live a relaxing holiday in harmony with nature, not far from Perugia. Next to the house there is a large, panoramic swimming pool and reserved parking. We have one-, two- and three-room apartments available, all carefully furnished in "poor Umbrian style". At the nearby (2 km) Hotel Cantalodole, there is the bar and restaurant service. The nearness of lake Trasimeno and the most important artistic cities of Umbria, such as Assisi, Todi, and Perugia, make the "Vecchio Granaio" an ideal place for your relaxing holiday.
Owner and his daughter were lovely hosts. Our studio room had a bed in the loft which was great to have a separate space from the living dining even though it was technically one room. Clean bathroom and linens, compact kitchenette equipped with pots/pans/plates etc enough to cook a quick meal. Small fridge that isn't very cold so don't fill it too much, its alright for a bottle or two of water. Pool was really nice and relaxing and surrounded by a well maintained thick lawn. 1.5m deep all the way. They do breakfast but there's no restaurant for lunch or dinner but the owner has fantastic suggestions. They do also have a brick BBQ and Pizza oven in one and you are free to use it. First come first served. Also a few wineries in the region you could do tastings for great prices. Buying straight from the cantina is also well worth it. I would stay here again.

We had decent local cold meats and Octopus for for 3 of the starters but the prawn & basil pasta was bland and stodgy. Mains were a disappointment with very tough and fatty lamb where it was on the menu as rack & rump but we only got cutlets and tough tasteless beef. Rooster was tasty and different but 2 out of 5 main meals was poor for the prices we paid! Nice atmosphere, wine and staff but overall expensive for a disappointing meal. Would struggle to recommend and we have had much better this week in Umbria

Dipped in an evocative scene between the Umbrian hill sides and the ancient city of Assisi, Re Artu can make you living experiences from the authentic taste, in rich places of history, culture and mysticism. In the heart of the Park of Monte Subasio, along the Franciscan way, between olive trees and lives, hills in escape, sunny slopes, brushstrokes of colours in continuous change, Re Artu opens the sight in front of himself to the evocative magic of Assisi, an eternal beauty.
Great place to be. Bed&Breakfast Apartments property about 2 miles outside of Assisi where you can safely park your car, stay and sleep very peacefully. Studios and apartments are well equipped with kitchen and all you need to cook if needed. But my suggestion is to go out because restaurant in this area are amazing. People and Staff there are very helpful. Nice swimming-pool.

Amazing stay in a castle! Perfect scenery, beautiful property and room, private Spa and super friendly and helpful owners and staff. As I understand they plan to make a swimming pool. That would make it even more perfect. Dinner was certainly good but with the perfect view during dinner the menu could maybe be a bit more haute cuisine (but that’s just my opinion) Highly recommended!

A great place to rent a room. Clean linens and towels when you need them, a balcony with every room. Most importantly Carla the owner is really nice--always available and making sure your needs are met. Her genuine care is why this place operates better than other spots in Foligno.
