A great find! Dog friendly, cheap, very easy to reach straight off motorway, clean and comfortable room, ample (& safe) parking and great traditional Spanish food served up to 9pm. Plus frozen beer glasses - a must after a long, hot drive! Approximately 3 1/2 hrs from Santander, south of Aranda de Duero and north of Madrid. The place was a lively hub of activity with locals coming in for a drink and tapas and buying their bread from the little shop within the bar which also sells wine, cheeses and salamis! The staff were fabulous and we would definitely stay here again when we drive back to the U.K. and if we bring the car next year. Perfect stopping point ?

El Nogal, is a charming Apartahotel with Restaurant located around a beautiful centenary tree around which the whole building revolves and to which it gives life and meaning. Its careful and elegant decoration stands out, where nature acquires particular relevance, achieving a careful environment capable of satisfying any need. We have not neglected comfort and accessibility, for which we have an elevator, access and services for the disabled and a private parking for our guests located under the building. The common spaces are particularly beautiful and welcoming, transmitting peace and tranquility. In our Restaurant, Directed by the prestigious Chef Julio Reoyo, whose good work in the kitchen has been recognized, among other awards, with three Michelin stars, we offer a cuisine of creative market author with careful elaborations and presentations, singular and of quality. It offers a careful menu of carefully selected dishes (dinner only), as well as Daily Menu of € 12 from Monday
We spent 4 nights in a one bedroom apartment at El Nogal. Everything was perfect. The hotel is fairly new, well designed and decorated. The apartment was spacious and very comfortable. Drinks under the walnut tree in the garden were very special. Attention from staff was with a smile. Tapas in the bar delicious and inexpensive. Everything that could be done to make our stay enjoyable was. It is close to Segovia and two palaces. One the hunting palace. Neither should not be missed. Segovia was an amazing city. Easy to access and parking free at weekends.

Small hotel tucked into the same river gorges Duraton in the swamp of Burgomillodo
Where do we start? Our dog was pampered by the staff, and he made friends with the owner's Boxer. Many people had dogs with them, and we could eat our meals with our pets just off the main dining areas. The staff were exceptional. Don't expect to be speaking any English, so this is a great opportunity to practice your Spanish. The restaurant put out some excellent dishes, with grilled and roasted meats being the focus. Desserts were interesting too. The Bar offers Tapas, and hot Tapas at night when the kitchen opens. The Beer is ice cold. If you are travelling with a group, ask in advance about the roast suckling pig and the lamb. I think you need to order in advance (pig for 6 persons, lamb for 2). The surrounding area is a beautiful nature reserve. The hotel is at the foot of a dam for hydro power, with a lake behind it. The river runs in front of the hotel. Mountains are behind the hotel. Our room was very rustic, clean, and well appointed. The windows had screens to keep out the insects. As often happens in Spain, our car's GPS did not recognize the hotel address. My iPhone (Google Maps) did take us there. The GPS coordinates at the front of the hotel in the parking lot are: N 41.339044° W 003.886527° We can't wait to go back for a few days with our dog, of course...

We stayed here after a torrid time cycling as part of a charity bike ride from Bilbao to Malaga. Just 50 mins up the road we had suffered 2 flat tyres one after another. Having gone through all our tyre tubes we were now left with a last tyre with a cut and masking tape taking us to the nearest accommodation. To our luck it was at the Tirontilla that we ended up staying. Firstly, the hotel is beautiful and an ideal retreat for anyone wanting to experience Spanish tranquility, the rural medieval Spain. It is in a lovely quaint village. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and come with wifi. The breakfast was great simple and rustic but with quite a number of options. The best thing though by far is the staff. They dropped us off at the nearest bar to get dinner at 10PM. It was in Cuellar Mayor I believe the next town North. They provided us with a simple Spanish dinner of Manchego cheese, Jamon and Beef stew and red wine. It was amazing. After this we were then picked up and taken back to the accommodation around 11PM. The following day they took me to Cuellar at just before 10am to get to the shop for it's opening time then they helped to my wheel fixed. Following that they helped when my chain got jammed. Without that we wouldn't have been able to get a train from Segovia to an Aerosmith Concert - so it really saved the day. They never asked for any money and were really humble and helpful hosts. I can't praise them enough.

We stayed here for a large family reunion. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The property is well-maintained, and has a rustic charm about it. Breakfast is included in the price, and is prepared by the owner. The property is about two streets back from the main town square of Ayllon, so it is conveniently located. Some rooms have balconies facing La Martina.

This is a beautiful old mill by the Duraton river. The hotel rooms are beatifully furbished with plenty of antique objects, showing great taste. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, especially Chema. As we did not know the Segovia area, he proposed routes and plans for each one of the days of our stay. It is possible to have lunch and dinner in the hotel, the food is great and the prices, very reasonable. On the flip side, the breakfast could be a bit better. There is a playground area for the kids and also an indoor swimming pool, which is very enjoyable. The surroundings of the hotel are really beatiful, and it is possible to take a boat on your own to sail across the river and approach the vultures that nest in the river cliffs, a truly amazing and unusual experience. To sum up, a highly recommendable place for a family stay.
