Found this gem of a place after a long day touring the trails of Almeria. Long cold beers on draught, what a delight after a long day in the saddle. Menu was simple but really well cooked local food. Rooms were basic but well appointed with a fantastic shower!!! Suffice to say, it was so good we booked another night and did a circular route around the Sierra Nevada. The lady who runs it was a delight and really went out her way to make us welcome, along with the dogs and the donkey it was just great.

The hotel is in a rural peaceful location with lovely views and handy for several mountains villages. Wonderful welcome from the owners Clay and Rachel and staff, in particular Amanda ,who is one of the smiliest people we have met. They made us feel instantly at home . Top notch dinner and hugely generous breakfast..will need to diet on return to the UK. Great room with huge bed. Will be back with a doubt.

Strategically located at the heart of the town of Tabernas, Hostal Avenida offers you all the comfort at the best price. Our rooms are fully equipped and our staff ready to meet your needs so that you can enjoy the fabulous nature of our region, its culture and leisure activities. The beautiful XVI century church, which is visible from your rooms, is worth a visit as well as the Moorish castle that guards the town. Take a hike into the desert and enjoy the awesome landscape of the badlands, which is unique in Europe. Film lovers can also pay a visit to the Western thematic parks, which are located at less than 5 minutes from our Hostal, and feel like a character of their favourite movies. Hostal Avenida is also an ideal location for speed lovers, visiting the Almeria's track race (Circuito de Velocidad de Almeria) which is only 10 minutes away. There are plenty of bars and restaurants very close by where you can taste our local specialities, the beautiful Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar with its wild beaches is also only 45 kilometres away.
Clean and tidy basic accommodation, an ideal base for touring the area. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Finding a parking space close by can be a bit 'hit and miss' so we opted for a 5min walk to either the public carpark or easy on street parking. The hostal has no facilities but there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk offering everything from coffee to tapas or menu of the day. (La Dalia gastro pub is definitely worth a visit!) The town of Tabernas is ideally situated not only for the nearby 'Western' attractions but also for Almeria, the several nature parks in the region and the many, as yet, unspoilt beaches and coves. If you don't fancy driving into Almeria, then there is a local bus service which takes about 40mins to the main bus depot. Only downside was a slight, but noticeable smell of drainage from the bathroom, however we later discovered that the problem appeared to be with the public sewer rather than the hostal itself! Overall the hostal represents excellent value for money and is thoroughly recommended.

The Hostal the Palm is in a quiet area where you can relax in our palm beach . The hostel has 15 rooms with air conditioning , bathroom, heating, television . All with terrace and overlooking the most mar.Internet wifi for customers , free parking area . Information events, parties , clubs , mythical places . Supermarket, restaurants and bars to lose our hostel.
So, booked as an overnight stay while visiting friends in Mojácar. Were in our late 60s, greeted on arrival by a friendly young man, beautiful manners, spoke English, although he and my husband supported different football teams, say no more lol. This is a Hostel, not a 4 star Hotel, yet here was this curtious man carrying our case to our room, which had been upgraded to a sea view. Room....bed beautiful white spotless bedding, sheets not a crease to be found AND I'm going to say here that the comfort of this bed was one of the most comfortable weve ever slept in and that includes 3*4* hotels. Pure white towels and plenty of them. Bathroom adequate and clean with shower cubicle and clean sanitized toilet and shower with toiletries. Fridge in room, although not required by us but can see the benifit. Air-conditioned, basic room, clean with balcony catching the morning sun overlooking the sea.....and all for 40€ Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

At the top of the main street in San Jose, the hotel is close to shops and cafes and a couple of hundred yards from the beach. We arrived on foot from San Miguel de Cabo de Gata (24 kms; 5 hrs) and were rewarded with a cold beer (just €1.50) on walking through the door. Rooms clean and spacious; friendly and helpful staff. No meals served but cafe over the road did good breakfasts with good coffee. We came at the end of season in the first half of November but there were still 4-5 restaurants open in town.

The Cortijo El Campillo is an ecological rural guest house in the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park. This farmhouse, which is over one hundred years old, conserves its traditional architecture whilst incorporating all the modern comforts required for an enjoyable holiday in natural surroundings. At 'El Campillo' our recent bioclimatically constructed extension offers 5 independent rooms each with private bathrooms and terraces affording impressive views. Solar-powered under-foor heating throughout the house keeps rooms warm through the winter months. Te house also provides a kitchen-dining area with an old log-burning stove as well as communal terraces for guests. Also for rent is 'El Campillico', an independent house within the grounds of the cortijo, with two bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, lounge with log fire, and private terraces.
The place was not difficult to find, we used google maps. The host was very nice, and we had a warm welcome. First of all the common kitchen area was free to use and had the equipment you would need to cook. Although, the place was cozy and felt like home, the thing that really dragged the whole experience down was the ant and fly invation that seemed to be neverending. It was ants EVERYWHERE, in the kitchen, in the cupboards, the rooms, on the walls and in the bed. It is understandable that this problem might be inevitable but the amount of insects everywhere was frightening and destroyed this hotels' potential. The facilities had a personal touch, it was possible to borrow bikes and the host knew the area very well and provided us with all the information we needed. There was a fan in the ceiling in every room but it worked poorly on spanish hot summerdays. The whole experience did not answer to the price per night. We could drive to the San Jose in 20 minutes passing by dozens of greenhouses for tomatoes. Theres a selection of restaurants in San Jose and beaches, five euros for parking to enter the beach monsul and genovese. Make sure you have some cash handy because you could not use credit cards in some restaurants. In conclusion, this is a hotel which makes you feel at home but it obvious that this includes the ants and flies aswell. If you are planning to visit this place, make sure to set off some time cleaning your suitcase and clothes for ants.
