Brimming with both history and natural wonder, Northern Portugal is home to Porto, the city that gave the country its name, as well as the important ancient town of Braga. Also here is Peneda-Gerês, Portugal’s only national park, a gorgeous wilderness area of mountains, gorges, water features and wildlife. Many picturesque villages and manor houses dot the countryside. Two areas are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alto Douro Wine Region, and the Paleolithic rock art in the Côa Valley.

The people that work there are very kind, they don’t speak English, but we made it work. Nice room with an amazing view. The food was cheap but ok for the price you pay for it.. (15 euros for soup, main dish, dessert and half a bottle of wine)

The origin of the name "Casa Nª Sra do Carmo" is associated with the its private chapel. Opened in 2014, the house offers a warm and comfortable space, combining a modern style with its still visible history associated with vine growing and the production of the famous Port wine. The "lagares" and the winery are interesting features that will not go unnoticed. The "Casa Nª Sra do Carmo" offers a panoramic view of the Douro valley and of the surrounding mountains with their terraced vineyards. It is certainly a unique place to spend relaxing moments, with tranquility and nature all around us.
We had a short stay here in August, and wished we had had longer. The guesthouse has been stylishly converted from an old family property and is clean, with great open areas both indoors and out, to sit and relax. The views across the valley are incredible. As so many other reviews have mentioned, Nuno is a wonderful host - friendly, knowledgable and very generous with his time (we bombarded him with so many questions). We did a 6km walk from the house and also took electric bikes out for the day through Nuno's company, using GPS guidance to cover 60km's of the Douro valley - this was a real highlight of our trip. We would highly recommend a stay here, whether you want to relax and drink in the views (and the local wine) or be active...its a perfect base for both.

The house has 6 double rooms with private bath, one of the rooms is prepared for handicapped guests. On the ground floor is the restaurant space, snack bar, bar and lounge. Outside the house you can find a space called Mundo Rural, there exists another suite and as well an area to support the production of wine, a barbecue terrace and garden. From here you have a privileged view to our s
We stayed here as a part of a self guided bike tour. The hotel has a great terrace on the second floor where you can enjoy some food and drink. The staff is super helpful and goes above and beyond (e.g. when I asked if it was too late for cheese and meat board at 23:30, I was given a smile and asked where I wanted to eat it; and they did a load of laundry for us at a reasonable fee). The bathroom was a little snug, and there isn’t a ton of places to eat in town, but the hotel coordinated an affordable local cab. I would definitely stay here again!

Mo house is perfectly situated in the historic centre of Porto. We stayed in room 3 overlooking the Douro River. The room is large and has a small kitchen, bathroom and two small balconies. Breakfasts are full and plentiful and delicious. Diana is a breath of fresh air. She makes time with her guests and although there were a lot of people checking in and out she still made time to talk to everyone. Porto is beautiful and Mo House sits quietly and elegantly in this historic city. I highly recommend a stay here. Thank you Diana and your lovely staff for a perfect three night stay. Located in Porto’s city centre, just a few meters from the World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Porto Riad Guest House offers its clients an unforgettable and unique experience. Porto Riad is an enchanting and traditional house from the 40s totally renovated in 2009 under the theme of the Orient. Its mission is to provide clients an exotic and inspiring atmosphere. We invite you to share relaxed moments with an aromatic mint tea or a port. "Feel the magic of a Riad and discover the fascinating history of Porto." We are surrounded by the main touristic attractions and historical monuments of Porto, and we emphasize "Bolhao," the market, the Town Hall, Clerigos Church, the stock market and the historical area of Ribeira.
We stayed for 6 nights in a group of 5 during the UEFA Nations League and only cost €100 euros each! Breakfast was included which we never expected and was open til 11am. Unreal ham and cheese sandwiches. Walk down to the square 10 minutes away and 15/20 to the ribiera, €7 taxi if you don’t fancy an uphill walk back. Staff were so friendly, as we only had one key, he kept letting us in the room if we never had a key and if we used the towels he would happily give us fresh ones if we asked. 5/5

Ten rooms with river view equiped. All of them with w.c, Tv and air conditioner. This establishment has a restaurant.
The hotel is actually a hostel above the restaurant. The service is friendly and good, but the room is to basic to get the value you payed for. The showercurtain-bar was hanging down which resulted in water around the bathroom. When we left we checked the room for stuff we might have left and under the bed we found a sock from the previous guests. This means that the room or maybe only under the bed itself wasn't cleaned properly. Don't get me wrong, the service was good and the view was amazing, but the room itself was basic. My advice? Go to the restaurant for a great meal, but sleep somewhere else.

This accommodation was excellent value for money, the views were great. The area was well suited for our biking needs. The breakfast was plentiful with a good choice also well priced. The rooms were clean and comfortable but a bit on the small side, that said they were only for sleeping in, our room had access to a huge terrace which had wrap around views of the lake and hills. The bar had inside and outside seating, the staff were very friendly and helpful. If in the area again we would definately use this property again.

When you are on a walking tour, you want a comfortable bed, good plumbing and quiet after a strenuous day. Os Poetas checked all the boxes. In addition, it had a wonderful location by the bridge, friendly staff and a very nice breakfast. We couldn't ask for more.

Thank you Placido for restoring Casa D`Auleira into such a beautiful venue set in such a wonderful part of Portugal. This is a place that when you are there makes you forget about the rest of the world..The breakfast is fantastic and the bedrooms are extremely comfortable..There are many types of fruit trees and flowers in the gardens and along with the heated pool help u to really unwind...there is also an adjacent function room which holds up to 80 people..this along with the on site bedrooms, gardens and pool makes this venue an absolute gem of a property to host a wedding or anytype of party...alternatively as a getaway for couples or families you will not be dissapointed..The local town Ponte Da Barca is only 10 mins by taxi or car
