Louisiana tourism is centered on New Orleans and the North Shore region in the southeastern corner of the state near the Florida border. West of New Orleans is the Great River Road, with the I-10 running to the Mississippi River port capital city of Baton Rogue. West of New Orleans along the Gulf of Mexico, the I-10 cuts through Lafayette and Lake Charles on its way past Abbeville to Texas. Central Louisiana is Lake Country, and home to cities like Alexandria and Natchitoches. In northern Louisiana, the I-20 runs west from Monroe to Bossier City, Shreveport, and East Texas. Unless Louisiana is very familiar and frequent territory, New Orleans will be the top choice for a Louisiana vacation. Though Mardi Gras, music, and the winning ways of the New Orleans Saints football team get the spotlight, there is much more to explore in New Orleans. Within New Orleans choose among Bourbon Street, Royal Street, the Upper and Lower French Quarters, the Warehouse and Central Business District, the Garden District and Uptown, and Mid-City. With street car lines linking the French Quarter to the Garden District, Convention Center, and everywhere else, it is easy for the whole family to get around. If long walks are your exercise, explore the scenic city on foot. An easy two-hour drive from New Orleans brings you to Baton Rogue, Natchitoches and Lake Country. Explore old Beauregard Town in downtown Baton Rogue, the historic homes of the Baton Rogue Garden District, and tour one or several working plantations. Walk the 33-block Historic Landmark District and tour the historic homes and churches of Natchitoches. Relive Spanish Empire history in Louisiana at Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site. Heading west from New Orleans is Cajun Country and Lafayette with its mix of French, French Canadian (Acadian), Spanish, and Caribbean cultures. Besides Cajun and Creole cookery, explore the Civil War heritage at the Lafayette Museum. Stop by Abbeville to view the courthouse designed by Hayes Town, St. Mary Magdalen Church, and have a seafood meal. With 75 annual festivals Lake Charles is Louisiana's Festival City, and home to the Creole Nature Trail Scenic Byway. Shreveport and Bossier City in northwest Louisiana are casino and entertainment centers. Shreveport is renowned for hosting the Louisiana State Fair in the fall. Plus floral centers, art galleries, and museums. Monroe in the northeast also has notable gardens.

We had reservations for late April ‘22. We arrived after driving all day only to get turned down for our reservation because I had a medical alert service dog. The owner said she doesn’t allow pets and I explained that this dog (dachshund) is not a pet. Federal Law says we cannot be turned down. She said this is Louisiana and we don’t care about federal laws. It’s difficult enough to be handicapped with a disease that daily threatens your life but it’s also embarrassing And humiliating to be turned away in public. If you are a handicapped person or care about people who are, please do not stay at this Lodge. In this day and age, it is unforgivable to refuse a handicapped person.

We stayed here after a long day of driving on the way to the Barn Hill Animal Preserve. The staff was very accommodating, the room was nice and clean, and the pool was great. We took the kids swimming after we arrived and it’s great because you can order food while at the pool. We would definitely stay again.

Should have asked for another room. Wasn't as clean as it should have been. Killed two roaches, dirty wash rag hanging on shower rod, no extra toilet paper, greasy hand print on mirror, bathroom counter not completely clean, something brown smeared on ceiling and by door. Wasn't vacuumed very well. Dust ruffle very dusty. Furniture very scuffed up.

We are an all-inclusive hunting and fishing lodge. 20 fishing guides and 6 hunting guides provide our customers with world-class, light-tackle inshore saltwater & freshwater fishing, as well as some of the very best waterfowl hunting in the US. After the day in the Delta, the customers can relax & enjoy our comfortable lodge accommodations and great southern cooking, with Creole & seafood accents.
The trip to New Orleans was easy ,until we got to the Hertz rental desk where we were told our reservation ( booked 6 months prior by AAA) was for a rental reservation in Orlando(?) !After phone calls and being told they had no vehicles,we produced a credit card and a car appeared. The lodge was great, the boats and guides were first class. The fishing could always be better.Lena the house mom was very helpful and accommodating. The food was just ok,seconds were not available. I was really hoping for some Cajun food but that didn't really happen either.I would do it again but I would call the LODGEand ask and ask about the tides(no "flip flop" tides) and fishing report.

This was a great place before Hurricane Ida, when they rebuild I have no doubt it'll be even better :-) My only gripe is their pet policy. I have a service dog I cannot bring because of the high pet fee.

World class outdoor destination that offers activities including waterfowl hunting, bass fishing, saltwater fishing, alligator hunting, and eco-tours. Overnight packages and day trips available.
We had an amazing time. Great hospitality and Matt the chef and his team put together some excellent meals. We caught Bass, Redfish, and Trout. Great place to get some “Team Building” and have a lot of fun. If you’re looking for a resort atmosphere, go to a Hotel. If you want excellent fishing and an atmosphere that puts all of your team together, this is a great place to go. Everyone on staff was extremely friendly and respectful. Time very well spent.

We just returned from a lovely weekend in Natchitoches, La. We stayed at Creole Cottage and couldn’t be more pleased! I️t was our perfect home for the weekend! The accommodations were perfect; rooms were spacious, clean and comfy. The location was so convenient! We parked our car all weekend and walked to everything. We loved having coffee in the morning overlooking the river. Would recommend this place to anyone! What a lovely home!

Spent 3 nights at homerun lodge and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean the location was awesome. Wake up in the morning walk out the back door and the boats are waiting for. Short walk to Venice marina to check out the boats coming in. The best part of the lodging was Evie, who in her quiet way was the best hostess. The food she cooked from steak the first night to crawfish pasta the next was fantastic. Her breakfast was equally delicious. Evie if you read these post just wanted to tell you thank you for your hospitality The 6 guys from New York

We stayed here while fishing and had a great time. The room was very clean and had plenty of room for 6 people. The people at the marina were great. There’s a place to clean fish. They’ll even clean them if you’re to tired to after returning from a day of fishing.
