The arrival from Kamanjab or Khorixias through Damaraland is already an adventure and you will receive a first impression of a natural Africa prior to farming. You will enjoy the free view, the wideness and discover widespreaded colonies of the Damara and Hereros as well as African wild animals in the wilderness. Huab Lodge is an award-winning premier lodge with 8 luxurious bungalows and an extraordinary atmosphere. Perfectly situated in Damaraland, right on route to and from Etosha. Here you can "Enjoy the Huab Sound of Silence".
We had two most relaxing days at the Huab Lodge end of May. After some good rains this year, Huab was even more special with all the golden grass than we remembered from our first visit some years ago. Lydia and Deon, the new owners, were perfect hosts and gave us very personal service. Make sure to stay - at least - two nights, in order to have enough time to enjoy everything Huab has to offer, including the hot spring!. We did the early morning walk with Deon and enjoyed it very much! We wish Lydia and Deon all the best - we'll be back!

Built in the wattle and daub style under Mopane trees and connected by a labyrinth of paths, the main building and chalets of the lodge look like an African village. The walls are adorned by copies of the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein. Each of the 60 double room chalets (with air conditioning) sits in a vegetable and herb garden surrounded by a low wall. The gardens supply fresh ingredients for supper, which consists of a starter followed by a delicious buffet. There is a swimming pool for chilling out and a viewing point for relishing sunsets. The lodge at the gates of Damaraland is ideally suited for excursions to Twyfelfontein (130 km), the Petrified Forest (70 km) and the Vingerklip rock pillar (50 km).
This place have friendly staff with great customer service. They are attitude is driven towards making your stay memorable. Their food also great and the prices for drinks was reasonable. I really enjoyed my stay here.

We were just camping for 1 night. Check in staff very friendly, advised us on which camping site is the best one. The sip sliding trip was however the best. Very good guidance and professional team - also safety wise. Thank you. :)

The place is wonderful! Lots of space and lots of freedom to move around, trails and dirt roads for safaries. I loved the fact that I was able to hike and not just drive. Animals are all over and it brings a lot of joy. Rooms are spacious and clean and have that modern African vibe. Another very special thing is the food. While breakfast and mini lunch are tasty, dinners are truly delicious and unique as dishes announced on Damara language. Also we tried lots of fake meat there which was cool! We also were able to rent a safari car there, very convenient. Overall, I would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone!

An oasi of luxury and class in the middle of the oldest desert in the world.
We had misgivings about staying here for several reasons, including cost. But all went well in the booking process with our questions being answered promptly and thoroughly. We went and it was a god choice. We normally explore areas with our own vehicle but due to recent heavy rains this may have proved a bit foolhardy as the river was still flowing and the sand soft. Even on arrival in Purros we were pleased to find that they had kindly sent a vehicle to guide us over the river Hoarusib to the Lodge on the hill above. That was a start to a pleasant stay. The architecture is a bit quirky, in reminded me of Lilliput in the Disney film, but it works internally. There are about 8 bungalows set along a ridge divided by the central communal areas such as office, pool, lounges and restaurants. I say restaurants (plural) as there were several rooms where private dining would be possible but as we were almost the only guests that was a bit academic during our stay. All was immaculately clean and maintained. Our bungalow was well equipped and fitted out and was one of the nicest of places. The bedroom was accessed from a gate to a small lobby and on the other side was the bathroom complete with bath and washbasins as well as shower stall . A really nice idea. At the end of the lobby/hall was a lounge and sunbed on a small balcony/stoop with tremendous views out over the harsh desert lands and mountains. There was much to look sat from a family of Ostrich to a daily parade of Springbok going about their business in total security. I dare say elephant and other large mammals pass by in season as there were many animal tracks criss crossing the desert. Meals were very nicely cooked from a choice of main courses. The was a hint of italian in the cooking process and when I enquired if the chef was italian, I was proudly told that she was 'pure blood Himba'. As the informant was proudly Ovambo it was good to see that the lodge was providing good work for local Namibian people. Due to the conditions I took advantage of their game drives each morning and their guide 'Wahni' was excellent and hard working in seeking out wildlife and birds as well as explaining the local way of life and its interaction with wildlife. All in all a very nice place to stay for a few days in teh sparse Purros area and we plan to return again on our next trip.

Khowarib Lodge nestles on the banks of the Hoanib river in the magnificent Khowarib Gorge in north west Namibia. 15 Canvas chalets project out from the river bank on stilts over the river bed providing unrivaled, shady views of the cliffs opposite. On the fringe of Kaokoland, the lodge offers a perfect jumping off point to explore the remote north west of the country, either independently or on one of the lodge's extensive guided tours. The immediate surrounding area of Damaraland has many rich and interesting activities including desert adapted elephant and Himba settlements within easy reach. Khowarib Lodge prides itself on the service provided by the local Damaran people. Of particular note are our guiding staff who all have many years experience in the area and unrivaled knowledge of the local environment and wildlife.
We have stayed here on previous occasions when transiting north south and always like the set up. Comfortable chalets set overlooking the small river. Each fully equipped with comfy bed, balcony and out door bathrooms. Meals taken in the central bar and restaurant areas often in the open air. A fixed menu most evenings with a buffet style breakfast. A good choice of wines too. Booking was made direct and we paid by credit card so really easy to secure a room for our use. The location is very green and bounces with birds and they have a decent sized swimming pool too. There associated company can organise adventurous multi night trips into the remote wilderness areas or just local excursions in search of wildlife in the Hoanib valley. We like it.

Situated on the banks of the Kunene lies a luxurious tented camp offering an excursion to the semi nomadic Himba tribe, a relaxing boat cruise and mind blowing scenic drives of the landscape that have captured many visitors to the north west of Namibia.
The lodge is very well kept by Irene. we received a warm welcome. Uanee guided us to nice places and allowed us to visit a authentic Himba village in the best conditions. The lunches and dinners are delicious and served with great kindness by Jörgen. Thank you to the entire team to make our stay so exceptional.
