Seven fully equipped holiday gites set in the beautiful french countryside, but only 15 minutes from the stunning Cote d'Emeraude beaches. Our gites are designed to be family friendly. The owners have small children of their own so have developed their facilities to be child friendly. Our facilities include:Private bar.Heated 13 x 6 metre swimming pool. Smaller heated pool for younger children. Children's play area (multi-activity play centre for the older kids, plus a range of swings, slides, ride-ons and toys for the under-threes). Games room (including pool, table tennis, a Nintendo Wii, and more...). Toys in each gite to keep our younger guests occupied; stairgates in each gite to keep them safe.
This is our third trip to ECG and we have already booked for next year. We have never been anywhere else that makes both parents and children so happy. The kids all quickly formed a 'pack' and spent the mornings and evenings playing with other children in the safe gardens (and with guinea pigs) and we enjoyed the middle of each day as a family at the beautiful local beaches, walking, paddling, rockpooling and sandcastle building. The swimming pool was also heavily used by our kids, thank goodness it is heated and we had fluffy robes to chnage into (the weather was warmer than the UK, but so nice to be warm in the evenings when the temperature dipped). Mummy and daddy enjoyed happy hour and the delicious plats du jour - we only cooked one evening. A true break.

We were delighted with our stay at the Chateau. After travelling down the wooded lane we arrived at the gorgeous old world 'cours' and were welcomed by the Viscount and his delightful niece. We were two couples. My husband and I had the red suite which included an large salon with sofas and tables. There were family portraits on the walls and views over the gardens. Our bedroom boasted a beautiful red satin canopy and lovely antique furniture. The bathroom was quaint with lovely panelling. There are family photographs everywhere and it is is clear that the owners are very happy in their surroundings. Our friends had the Viscount's old bedroom with a private bathroom just down the corridor. The bathroom was so big is even had a daybed in it! We had hoped to get a taxi into St Brieuc for dinner but apparently the village does not have a taxi service and they would have to come out from St Brieuc at a hefty price. Marie Josephine, the Viscount's niece offered to make us a light supper in the garden which we gratefully accepted. The meal and wines were delicious and we had a long chat with the Viscount and Viscountess. The breakfast was at a huge table in the family dining room and, again, everything was superb. The house is a family home and as such is quirky. Those wanting the standard of a 5* hotel ought to go to a hotel instead of the chateau. We, however, enjoyed it all the more as it is 'natural' and has evolved over many centuries. The house is full of the family's antiques and charm. We would not wish it any other way. Everything you could wish for was provided, plenty of hot water, tea/coffee, WIFI, television, plenty of space to puts things. We think they have 'got it' just right for those who appreciate historic buildings. The Viscount is a keen hunter and there is evidence everywhere, even on the dining area sofa where a gorgeous red fox sleeps the eternal sleep! The little dog Coquin was sweet and very friendly and the owners do welcome guest's dogs. The gardens are extensive and a delight to wander through. There are garden tables and chairs everywhere on the property so one can hide away with a book and a cold drink at any time. Louis and Joelle Du Fou de Kerdaniel are a delightful couple and very welcoming to their guests. I think they take great pleasure in sharing their beautiful home with others. We will return as soon as possible!

We stayed three nights at Ker Ar Men, our host and husband were full of attention. Room was nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed. The breakfasts were awsome, home made jam and bread. Three breakfast, three different menu. Well situated to visit the area. Fully recommend this place.

Le Boterff is set in a traditional Breton farmhouse with a 1-acre garden overlooking the countryside, located 2 km from the Tour de France circuits. It provides guest rooms and self-catering cottages. Featuring facilities for making tea and coffee, the guest rooms all have free Wi-Fi access, a TV, a CD player and a radio. The private bathroom includes free toiletries and a hairdryer. The cottages have a seating area with wood-burning stoves, a dining area and an equipped kitchen. A continental breakfast is served every morning. Breakfast can be taken in the dining room or on the terrace during sunny weather. Lake Guerledan, 6 km away, is a great area for water sports, cycling and fishing. The village of St Mayeux is a 2-minute drive away from this B&B.

We stayed at this hotel so that we could make the ferry from St Malo, which is what I imagine many guests want. However, as breakfast is at 9 am and we had to leave at 8.30, we had no breakfast, even thought we had paid in advance! I felt we could have been offered a coffee and croissant at 8.15, as 9 am is quite late for breakfast. When we arrived, we were looking forward to a meal in the hotel after a long drive, however, the restaurant was not open, so we had to drive around and search for something suitable - not easy in France for vegetarians..... There is no bar or guest lounge so you have only your room or the garden to sit in. The garden is lovely, but watch out for dog poo! Yes there are big dogs, which may not suit everyone. The owner was very friendly and the room was spotless, but this has the feel of a motel rather than a hotel.
