An archipelago off the northwest coast of Panama, Bocas del Toro is an eco-tourism favorite with English-speaking and other tourists traveling to this Central American country. Seven islands (including Isla Colón, Isla Carenero and Isla Bastimentos) comprise the land area, with Bocas Town its regional capital and the “big city” for those looking to shop, dine well, and explore nightlife. Adventure lovers will find plenty to keep them occupied, as scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, surfing and hiking are first-rate. And if you’re more of a tour-goer, never fear—Bocas del Toro offers a host of them, ranging from sailing to Nivida Bat Cave tours.

This eco-oriented place lies on Isla Bastimentos in Bocas Del Toro. A variety of accommodations are available from tents to air conditioned cabins, all set in a lush jungle, steps away from the beautiful Caribbean beach. Their open air café is a sweet place to relax - no shoes required. Amazing fresh food at super reasonable prices. If you wish, you will meet nice people from all over the world, plus some cute dogs. Palmar staff are the best!! Allison the manager was endlessly helpful and everyone was warm and kind. A water taxi will take you from Bocas town to the dock on the bay side of Isla Bastimentos. The 15 minute hike to the lodge is best accomplished with a backpack. We had suitcases and are older with backs that ache more days than not. Were able to arrange for someone from the lodge to wheelbarrow our bags in for us - call/email ahead if needed! One piece of advice: staff take the 8am water taxi in, so don’t count on a wheelbarrow before then on your way out or in. We had massages right on the beach, took a yoga class, saw red frogs, swam daily, did not wear shoes for 5 days - it was heaven!!

Join us at CocoVivo for the experience of a lifetime, stay at a tropical island paradise. Surround yourself with the tranquility of island life, while enjoying all the comforts and adventures our rustic retreat has to offer. Dive into emerald green waters, snorkel among the colorful coral reef, crack open a coconut to quench your thirst, and simply relax in a hammock to read or stay in touch online. Enjoy water sports of sorts: wakeboard, kayak, paddle-board, and scuba dive. Don't forget to hike CocoVivo's wild backyard jungle, while searching for delicious plantains that make for excellent "batidos" or smoothies. You will almost certainly encounter a sloth! CocoVivo is truly for the adventurous soul, but the team does their best to make off-the-grid living as comfortable as possible. From free Wifi and exceptional restaurant service, to personal and group tours to visit main tourist attractions that the archipelago's other islands have to offer (Islas Zapatillas, Red Frog Beach, Bocas Town, the Cacao Farm, and more), rest assured that you will be well taken care of.
This was a amazing place to stay. We awoke every day in a beautiful place with great weather. Traveling with young children and a large would be a challenge for most places but Cocovivo was up to the challenge. With the oldest in our group of 19 being in there 60's and the youngest being 2, this was a tall order and they exceeded expectations. The staff assiated in booking tours that were specific to our interest, along with getting all 19 of us across to other islands. The food was above and beyond our expectations. Hooray for the chefs!! The dogs would walk us to our cabins at night. Which was really cool when you have children. Honestly I could write pages on our experience here. If clear water with reefs and beautiful jungle are your thing, and if its not it should be. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. The staff will make you feel like family!!

The place is really worn down, and we had many issues, among others: - Air conditioning was barely functioning and could in no way cool down the room - The place was generally dirty with cockroaches - Manager not available, even during ‘office hours’ - The toilet stopped working during our stay - Lights were broken and not fixed upon request - Hot water only worked sporadically - Request for cleaning was ignored (we didn’t have any cleaning during our 5-night stay) However, the worst issue by far was the manager of the place. I have never met such an unpleasant person. He was impolite from our first encounter, and from there it went downhill. I had a dispute with him because he refused to provide us with toilet paper (he makes you ask for it every time you need it). During this argument he yelled and swore at me and plain out told me that he didn’t give a f*** about the issues of this place and also told me that the owner of the place didn’t care, so he could do whatever the f*** he wanted. In the end I decided to help myself to a roll of toilet paper from an open closet rather than continue the argument. A few hours later he continued to harass us by throwing toilet paper on our balcony and standing outside our room while complaining loudly about me to other guests. It is beyond me how a grown man can act so childish. We did not respond to any of this behavior, which apparently infuriated him even more, so finally he came knocking on our door and started yelling again, while informing that he was kicking us out for taking a roll of toilet paper. The whole scene was absolutely absurd! As my boyfriend was very sick with a fever we had to reason with him to let us stay, otherwise we would gladly have left the place. I recommend not to risk the wrath of this man and book another place.

Offering a waterfront pool and a panoramic terrasse over the archipelago of Bocas del Toro. El Caribeo is situated on Isla San Cristobal - 10 min boat ride from Bocas Town. Lodges with seaview, private bathroom, hot water and private terrace. Guests can enjoy a meal or a drink at the on-site restaurant & bar. A number of activities are proposed such as snorkeling, kayak, SuP, jungle trail...
We just finished a stay at this hidden gem, and our only regret was not stayiong longer. El Caribeo and the Owners Romano, Clement and Camille provide an experience that strikes the perfect balance between staying with dear friends and a luxury eco-resort. A ten minute boat ride (easily arranged for you by the staff) from the busy and noisy Bocas Town, El Caribeo is a waterfront paradise on secluded Isla Cristobol. This is a place to relax, unwind and put yourselves in the hands of your hosts who live onsite and rent only two small cabanas two those wishing to share their little corner of paradise. Let Camille cook all your meals, she is a fabulous chef and the food is amazing! Your hosts will share a drink and some very entertaining and informative conversation with you while you enjoy appetizers by the pool, after which you will be served your entrees and dessert at a table on the covered deck overlooking the Caribbean Sea. After dinner play some darts and enjoy a drink while listening to some great music from Roman's eclectic collection. Make sure to let your hosts arrange a tour of their gardens, the source of ingredients for your meals, infused soaps and oils and even some local spirits. Clement and Roman took us for an outing by boat to a nearby bay to view dolphins, which is not to be missed, and later we were invited back on the boat for an impromptu night time look at the bioluminescent creatures that inhabit the bay just off the dock. Another day, simply stepping off the private dock gave us access to a wonderful snorkeling reef full of sea life just steps from our little cabana. We just can't say enough about El Caribeo. Keep in mind, this property is off grid and very eco-friendly. Don't plan on bringing your hairdryer and curling iron, but do plan on having an experience that you will remember for a lifetime, and making some wonderful new friends as well.

Loving it here at the Hotel Sagitario in Menorca. It’s a small hotel with a big heart. Great service, lovely food and we have had some super entertainment in the evening. This beats the big hotels hands down. Small is good, holiday in Menorca is Hotel Sagitario.

Ataraxia is a quiet place hidden behind the mangroves of Punta Brown of isla bastimentos. The house offers 3 really large guestrooms with bathrooms and 2 beautiful sea view bungalows ideal for couples. The property is a 13 acres old cacao plantation coming back to becoming the jungle it used to be. The garden ends right by the carribean sea which you can access from the dock and others entries inside the mangrove. There is a small reef surrounding the property when you can observe the local marine life while snorkeling or using the kayaks and paddleboards at your disposal. You can also enjoy some long walk in the jungle behind the house where you will try to spot the various sloths and monkeys camouflaged in the high trees. Ataraxia is a perfect place the relax and leave your troubles behind you while you reconnect with nature.
The location is very near Isla Colon, only 15 mins by boat. The open air dining room and Yoga platform are very nice with at least 200 steps to climb from you room quarters. There are rooms in the lower main structure, with 3 casitas available. It is off the grid and everytime water is used you will hear a pump at work. Rooms below have no cross ventilationt with a small ceiling fan and screen windows. Its time for the bedding to be updated. Overall it was short stay with excellent food. and nice jungle environment,.
