We are very happy that we were referred to Lee at Los Elementos Adventure Center by our AirBnb host. From the very beginning (even when our trip had to be postponed for a year due to the pandemic), Lee was very responsive, kind and helpful. We ended up spending a day trip going from Panajachel to the Solola market. We also took a short hike and had a picnic in the forest. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and are really thankful that we got to experience the culture and beauty of this area on Market day. What really made this excursion extra memorable and fun was the fantastic guide that we had, a young man by the name of Marce! He was the perfect guide for our family, so adventurous, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to provide a unique day for us. It is such a treat when guides are flexible and open to whatever adventures may present themselves. We would definitely go with Los Elementos again and highly recommend Lee's personalized services and wonderful guides!
This tour aims to preserve the art of weaving in Guatemala, the highest expression of the Mayan worldview. The tour starts in Guatemala City or from La Antigua Guatemala. After pick up time you will transfer to the community of Santo Domingo Xenacoj, located 37km from Guatemala City. Upon arrival in the community we will meet with an Association of weavers of Santo Domingo Xenacoj and start our weaving workshop (duration 3 hours). During the weaving workshop we will share local stories, the meaning of textiles and the importance to transmit to new generations the weaving techniques and art. After our workshop we will continue for a traditional Guatemalan lunch prepared by a member of the community. For Spring Break, my family of 4 traveled to Antigua, Guatemala. We were lucky to locate ViaGuate as our transportation and tour provider. Hernan, the owner/manager, was very responsive to our needs throughout our travel. Alejandro, one of his tour guides, spoke very good English, provided excellent tour services, and even provided great local recommendations for shops and restaurants. We used ViaGuate for our airport transportation services as well as private tours of Picaya Volcano, Monterrico Beach, Lake Atitlan, and the Iximche ruins. I would highly recommend ViaGuate and all of these tours. Thanks again Hernan and Alejandro for your excellent service!

We came across this coffee workshop by chance and are so glad we did!! We learnt so much about the different processes in coffee and the different types of coffee in Guatemala. This workshop is great as its really practical- you get to do everything yourself from hand grinding the beans, to the many different brewing techniques. I had very little knowledge before on the different kit you can use at home to brew great coffee - in this workshop you get to make coffee with 3 at home kits (chemex, V60 and aeropress). The staff are super friendly with amazing English and Jorge is super knowledgeable on everything coffee!! The coffee is amazing - so good you don’t need milk, which i wouldn’t dream about back in London. I am super excited to try everything I learnt at home and you get instructions to bring home so you dont need to worry about remembering it all. I am glad our volcano trek was postponed due to the weather otherwise we might not of stumbled upon this workshop!
In these tours you can discover how these exquisite stained glass windows are made, the essence of what to make of a stained glass window and also how the most colorful and creative murals of the city of Quetzaltenango were made. Colorful throughout the tour. In addition to taking out all the accumulated creativity, they can make their own souvenir and take it home. Unmissable even for the locals themselves.
