Hiroshi did an excellent job in showing how every part of the karakul robot works. He carried two of the dolls with him and unwrapped them very carefully. The dolls were beautiful and one gets to appreciate the long tradition of karakuri doll making in Japan. It was something I had never seen anywhere else in the world. Thanks to Hiroshi, I was able to understand the history of karakuri, the science behind it, and the connection between the karakuri traditions and technologies today. It would be even better if you could come during the festival where the karakuri dolls were moving on the floats! Then you could understand the different kinds of karakuri dolls and the stories behind each creation. Or, if you want to understand more, go to the museum in Inuyama! Hiroshi is funny and entertaining. He even brought a modern robot to contrast it with the karakuri robots. It is interesting to see how much technology has advanced. It was truly wan extraordinary cultural experience! I am very grateful to Hiroshi for showing me this amazing art form. I learned a great deal by watching the demonstration.
