Discover the secrets and joys of cooking delicious local dishes, using fresh seasonal ingredients in a relaxed and fun way. Our cooking lessons are designed for those who love good food, wine, good company and nature as much as we do!Key feature of the Cretan diet is the high consumption of extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil has monounsaturated fatty acids, which decrease blood cholesterol levels and protect from cancer (Simopoulos & Robinson, 1998) and cell degeneration, due to its Ω-3 (linolenic) and Ω-6 (linoleic) fatty acids, concentration of vitamins E and A and more than 600 antioxidative substances.Wine consumption is protects against cancer and degenerative diseases and can decrease mortality rates from coronary diseases by 15 to 60% (Cordon 1983, Rimm 1991).

I've been to Crete at least a dozen times. The people are wonderful, the culture fascinating, the landscape awe-inspiring and the food, the food - fabulous. I've been to many parts of the island - Maria, Stalis, Bali and Georgiopolis in the north, Matala and Agia Galini in the south and Kalo Nero in the south east where friends lived for a few years. I've visited caves and churches, gorges and beaches and several ancient sites. This year, I went further west. From Kissamos, we took a Cretan Cookery course. Picked up by mini-bus from our rented villa we spent five hours with a multi-national like-minded group of 11 people learning how to prepare a dozen or so Cretan dishes. Taught by a wonderful mother and daughter team (one a great cook, one with great English) we then had a tour of the farm / love groves / herb garden / wine store before enjoying the fruits of our labours. Later, the recipes were emailed to us. This was truly a highlight of all my times on Crete.

My husband, 3 kids (aged 11,9 & 5) & I went for a family cooking class here. We had a tour of the lovely grounds with organic foods and free roaming chickens, rabbits, a cat and a dog. It was a truly idyllic experience. The owner & chef were a delight to sit and talk with. We enjoyed the authentic Cretan experience and getting off the tourist track for a day. The food we cooked was delicious and we enjoyed eating it at this beautiful place. I highly recommend this experience if you are visiting Crete.
