In busy Shinjuku, you’ll find some of the tallest buildings in Toyko, as well as tons of shopping malls, bars and clubs. To escape the hustle and bustle, TripAdvisor travelers recommend visiting Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a beautiful and peaceful park in the middle of the city.

Hotel
I don't see how you could find fault with this hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and everyone I came across had perfect English. The location is excellent; less than a five minute walk to Shin Okubo on the Yamanote (loop) line, and amidst all of the great Korea Town restaurants and shops. The room itself was very large, and had all necessary amenities plus some nice extras which you don't always see now, like mouthwash, and a refrigerator. The shikibuton (Japanese mattress/futon) was super comfortable and I slept really well. I didn't use the communal facilities like the laundry and kitchen but those could be a great asset for many travellers. I can't believe they aren't charging more for this place!

If I could give -100000 stars I would. Felt like I was in a horror movie. Will have nightmares about this place. The worst building I have set foot in in my life. I actually felt petrified. Rust-filled bathroom. No proper fire escape. Fallen-apart furniture as decor. Paint peeling everywhere. Is this a warehouse?? Not only that, when requesting to shorten our stay here to a single night after seeing the unliveable conditions, they refused to refund the stay at all for the remaining nights even when told the health and safety concerns we had about staying here. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GROSS NIGHTMARE OF A PLACE. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND BOOK ANYTHING ELSE.

When my friend and I decided to extend another day in Tokyo, we booked our stay at The Best Hotel. This is situated at the Korean Village, and is very close to the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. However, this place is very quiet. We were given a room at the ground floor, which was very convenient for us since we had to check out at 6am. Desperately looking for a place to print our new e-tickets, we requested the concierge to assist us. There was suplosed to be a charge but the gentleman said it was fine and did not accept the payment. This hotel can accept your luggage before your checkin time in order for you to enjoy the city. Since checkin time is at 1600 hours, we would highly suggest that you plan your itinerary in order to maximize your holiday tours. The place has a vending machine outside. It is also a few meters away from Hotel Gracery where you can spot Godzilla. We realized how good and convenient the location is during the evening. The price is so good considering its area. The staff are all very polite and are very accommodating. If given a chance to return and stay in Shinjuku, I would definitely put this in my top list of places to stay.

In synthesis: - the location is really good for everything (5 minutes by the major Shinjuku train station) - the little bedroom was in quite good conditions - WiFi works without problems - the bathrooms for the shower are in really bad conditions - washbasin in the corridor are comfortable but noisy because of their position (near the bedrooms) - the owner is super friendly.. he speaks very based english but it’s ok Please, don’t be fussy/squeamish.. just enjoy the experience!

The hotel also has a coffee shop/café. You can use the wireless Internet free of charge in the public area. In addition, this hotel in Tokyo has convenient check-in, easy check-out, and elevators. Hotel Empire in Shinjuku has a designated smoking area. The front desk is available 24 hours a day, and is available in Korean, Japanese and English.
Hotel is small but clean. The bathrooms are similar to a lot of hotels in Japan where there is not a lot of room. We are happy, though that there is enough space for us to place our luggage and open our bags. Around the area are modest restaurants and convenience stores. It is about half km away from the Shin Okubo train station. We were not allowed to check in early even if we arrived at 9am and had to wait until 2pm for the actual check in time. The hotel had restrooms open for public but they did not have common shower rooms. Even if we did not have access to our rooms, we would have appreciated it if we had access to a shower as we arrived from Kyoto via overnight bus and were in need of a shower. The reception area is also very very small. It is easy to get lost trying to track the hotel the first time. Just look for the vending machines in front with the big trees.

Guest House
We are staying here as a family with our 12 and 9 year old. We booked a room for 4 and have a 6 bedded bunk room. Beds are really comfortable, showers and bathrooms clean. Vanity area with hairdryers available. Can help yourselves to tea and coffee. Lounge with some cooking facilities- hot water for ramen, fridge in room. Great fun. Staff very friendly. Highly recommend- would very happily stay here again.
