The staff are extremely helpful and really want you to not only enjoy your stay at their house, but also want you to explore and discover the island(s). Each morning they asked what our plans for that day were, and they would draw us a map of the island with points of interest and hidden locations we could visit along the way. If you want to make the most of your trip to Ishigaki, you should stay here.

The most cozy. The most fun.The most chilled. Is there any other choice?why not?
Do not stay here. The girl in charge is not friendly. She is the owner’s girlfriend and lives there. She clearly does not enjoy interacting with guests and meeting her was not pleasant. It seems like she just likes to live there and does not feel any responsibly to be a pleasant host. The housekeeping is terrible. The place is old and dirty. The sheets and pillow smelled bad. The building is old which means that footsteps are loud. The place is dirt cheap which attracts very dirty people. The pictures on the website are not what the place really looks like. There are endless guest houses in the area where the staff is friendly and attentive to guests. Avoid this one.

Ishigaki Guesthouse HIVE is a suitable place for the base of trip in Japan for people who are from all over the world. There are cozy beds, tidy bathrooms, and a fancy living room where you can hang out. We have everything you need to enjoy your trip! We are always welcoming!!
I had an amazing stay here. I immediately felt comfortable. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen / common space is well lit and ventilated. The toilet is always clean. I like that they always change the bathroom mat everyday.

I stayed here for a week at the start of September. It’s a cozy little hostel about 15 minutes walking from the ferry terminal. The bed was comfortable and the staff were nice. They did to spend most of their time in the back office but were quick to respond once you ring the bell. Their English level is minimal but most of their guests are Japanese so it doesn’t need to be good. There is a small kitchen with a fridge and microwave. The common area is also reasonably social. There is a locker per guest that stores valuables but nothing to store larger luggage. Showers were warm but cramped. Soap and shampoo provided. There is a laundry facility but I didn’t use it. Overall it is a good little hostel that I quite affordable.

新築でお洒落なのに、安い! オーナーご夫婦も、気さくで話しやすく また泊まりたい宿です。 住宅街にあるけど、繁華街近いのに 落ち着いた雰囲気も、良かった。

Really over the expectation. First the owner accepted earlier check-in and explained everything around the area. Then they offered for free the room upgrade The structure ia very nice, new, comfortable and 3 min walking for kabira bay. You also have 2 bus stop in 1 min. At evening he drove us ti see the sunset with another guest and his family (nice, happy and kind family?). The last night he invited us in his house to join to drink sake and amazing tuna sushi. I really enjoyed my period at this guest house.

The male staff member here was very rude, and confronted me at 11PM in the common room demanding money from me for snorkel gear I did not use!! I explained the situation to him the previous day and thought the misunderstanding was resolved. To cause a massive fuss over 600 yen, and embarrass me in front of all the Japanese people sitting in the common room is awful. Overall the guest house is unfriendly and completely obsessed with money, and even charges you for having a bath! If you are not Japanese then you feel like an outsider staying here, look elsewhere!!

The guesthouse was like a homestay with a dormitory where the hosts would always be looking out for you while providing professional yet homely amenities: the 6-bed female dorm was airconditioned, well-equipped and each bed came fitted with individual reading light and a small fan and a curtain that ensured privacy and thick enough to cut out light. I'm relatively tall at 177cm but didn't have any problems with the length of the bed, but having to watch out for places that I might bang my head on in Japan is a behaviourally- conditioned routine already. Fellow guests whether there on short or long stays were supremely friendly during my 5-night stay and we even had a night of bbq together with interesting conversations and laughter. Awesome atmosphere thanks to the hosts who lived and shared the same space and always there to help if you need it, like show you how to use their kitchen, the washer/ dryer or even share local knowledge. They have really cute young children too, so if you are not too keen on toddlers or babies, you might want to think twice. They were really fun and adorable to play with, if you enjoy interaction with local people and children! There were sufficient use of bathrooms, and prepared areas for storage of food in the fridge(s) and shelves. Very organised place and very clean! I really had a great time and made many friends staying at Guesthouse Asibina and would certainly stay there again if I have the chance to return to Ishigaki.

周りに防風のためと思われる雑木林があるので、多くの野鳥の餌場となっています。また、海岸も近く渡りのシギの観察も用意でした。 スタッフのかたも気さくで、楽しく過ごすことが出来ました。
