Former industrial site has been transformed into an artsy, posh neighborhood with quaint shops, cafes and bookstores.
This was somewhere where we wanted to visit on our last trip but never made it. But glad we took the time on this trip and spend a very sunny Sunday afternoon on the Island. The public market is amazing, the sights, smells and colours are breathtaking selling everything from fruit and veg (all expertly displayed), to flowers, soaps, local crafts and the dessert counters WOW AMAZING. The food court area did get extremely busy but we were able to find a seat - the Chinese food counter was our preferred meal option and it was delicious, with us opting for the Lemon Chicken and the Honey Garlic pork. The food was that good that we actually visited again the following week. There are lots of other places to visit around the market, with shops and amazing houseboats + I believe there was a childrens play area. We then used one of the aqua buses to get a different view of the area back to Plaza of Nations. I would highly recommend Granville Market if you are in Vancouver

The foot ferry across was a lot of fun . Lots of friendly locals ,who visit with you sharing stories and history . Rob the Captain (only crew) is fun and informative . He helps you on and off the ferry if you need it ,he always asked. Safety is his priority. Lots of conversation laughter and even some old time music!???? Lunch in the pub was lovely ,good service and food. Apparently music Trivia is on Thursday nite and the ferry runs so guests at the pub can participate All in all well worth the trip!

Great little side trip from Tofino - water taxi was fun and informative, and the hike to the great trees gave a good feel for the bizarre temperate rain forest. Trees were amazing - 2000 yrs old - you can get a feeling.... We did the full circle route, but when they say mud and slippery roots and fallen trees - they mean it. A bit arduous but we're glad we did it. Legs have never felt better (when we stopped). Had a GPS to help. Trip to trees - 1hr, whole route 4 hrs (for us).

The boat trip across is short but interesting. There is a ring road around the island. Go left from the boat lately because of the Covid 19. The far east end which looks toward the golden ears bridge is the nude beach as per city of Vancouver since 2009. I was there 3 times lately for about 3 hours each time and only once saw one person. There is a sandy beach and nothing else. Carry in - carry out. The views around are okay. If you are looking for a secluded place to get the all over tan this is it. Or if you are a bit shy of crows this is a good choice from my experience. :)
