Short stay whilst attending the Ossett Beer Cart weekend

As a registered blind person the staff were extremely accommodating friendly and helpful. The room was plain but comfortable. I would point out just one drawback and that was that the shower entry door was very narrow and only would suit someone really less than a 46" chest otherwise you may get stuck between door and frame. The shower however was good. Just a little unusual to have the basin in the room itself. Coffee and tea facilities reasonable quality. Meals excellent but beware not on a Sunday evening which is not really very good for residents who do not wish to go out or are tired after a hectic day. Restaurant good quality food was seved at very reasonable prices.

Their bedroom was very spacious and comfortable and had a wet room, but it is the staff that deserve a big shout out. Reception staff were so helpful and friendly going above and beyond to make sure my parents stay was as comfortable as possible. they were absolute stars- Thank you Also thank you to house keeping for sorting out an extra bed in the room. Great value for money, Great experience

Reviewed By Lovely69456

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights, I travelled for work reasons, I can only say that I have had a great experience from the moment I have arrived at the hotel to the moment i left, the location is ideal for work tasks that require completion and high focus level regarding details, the place is just off an A road with moderate volume of traffic and backing on o fields on the other site, very peaceful and rural feeling, yet you could be sitting outside a restaurant and/or a pub in the near by town within 5mins drive or 10 min walk where you an also find all the base line shopping facilities as well, you can get yourself out for a nice walk by the dam or on in he fields/nature walk paths just minutes from the hotel. The staff is great, friendly, polite and very helpful, always with a smile on their faces, the room cleaning ladies are my heroes but all staff were fantastic and exceed my expectations. The hotel facilities and room facilities were good and in working order, Wi-Fi was good and constant, overall was happy with my stay and the price was very competitive if looking around the UK at current financial climate. Will stay again if the need rises. Thank you for all the staff and BW.

Comfortable stay but staff could do with a bit more attention to detail

Reviewed By mariej87

Stayed here as we were seeing a show in Sheffield and wanted to be a bit further out. On arrival we checked in and was asked some questions like our ethnicity which never been asked before. Room was comfortable and quiet. View was of the greenery at the back of the hotel. We paid extra for breakfast the next morning. We were the first 2 people in at 7am and the waitress asked us to take a table and she would be over to take our hot food order. She actually forgot we were there and it took a while for her to realise we were still waiting. My husband actually called out to her. She apologised. However, she did it again with another couple who sat close to us and she forgot part of their order. She actually thought they were sharing breakfast and offered them an extra spoon when they ordered 2! Just that attention to detail and customer service was missing.

Jubilee stay over - Wooley Edge Southbound

Reviewed By 1968lefty

Not sure why there is a large price gap between these 2 Travelodge hotels on opposite sides of the M1. I booked one nights stay at the southbound at a cost of £57, the Northbound cost was £20 more and no difference in distance to anywhere. Ive used Travelodge for many years in various parts of the country and always found them nice and comfortable for the cost. Of course depending where you go prices and range from £29 to over £100. Wooley Edge is no exception to the Travelodge ethos, you get what you pay for and its a nice quiet nights sleep in a comfortable double bed, nice clean sheets and large pillows. The only down side of a Travelodge is the bath, its only about 5 foot long so you cant spread out and relax. This lodge didn't have piping hot water when I stayed but the warm water for a bath was pleasant enough but no 30 minute soak on this occasion. The usual tea and coffee sachets that you get are ok to wake up to, to start you off but I do prefer a better quality tea in a morning. The room was nice and clean and warm enough, there is a radiator on the wall if you prefer a hotter room. TV had freeview so plenty of channels to flick through if you wish to watch on a night. Ive never had a bad stay at a Travelodge, staff are generally nice and friendly and will give you information as you need it, where to go or a local taxi company for example. This hotel was no different pleasant staff and welcoming. There are facilities outside of the hotel on the service area, Burger King, and a place to buy coffee and other items to eat. I only went in for a bottle of water that night so didnt really shop around. You cant go wrong really for a nights stay to rest or break up your day and for £57 its a decent place to stay over.

Holiday Inn Express Wakefield, an IHG Hotel

Very Good Service, Comfortable and handy for Town Visiting.

Reviewed By IanUpton

Reading some of the previous reviews I was a bit apprehensive about the quality of stay but pleasantly surprised and on having stayed there think people seem a little picky about marks on carpets , walls etc, yes there is the odd scuff mark on the stairwell where someone has caught their suitcases lugging them around at some point but it really isn't going to change your life and any odd markings on the carpets were hardly noticeable - in fact you would have to go looking for them Id say. The Service from staff was exceptional for this low to mid range hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and when I asked for addition information and service I got it promptly and with a smile - it does make all the difference. The cleaners worked dammed hard to in my book and they do a fantastic job , my room was spotless. The Morning staff clean tables and the buffet breakfast is adequate. The cooked breakfast is good enough to send you on your way- not top notch but that wasn't expected. Fresh fruit , muesli and yoghurt was available and croissants as well as white and brown bread. Fresh Juice , tea and coffee as expected. The only down side are the Insecure car owners with the big exhaust's who obviously feel the need to show off as to how much of a tool they can be. The side street of the hotel is used for some of these young and middles aged insecure car owners who have car exhausts bigger than their houses. However this calmed down after 10pm so sleeping wasn't an issue. IF you're on that side of the hotel and want an early night expect perhaps to be disturbed. I would stay there again . I didn't leave unhappy and the level of service would convince me to stay again.
