Rainbows are cool. But what trumps rainbows? Moonbows. If you visit Victoria Falls during a full moon, the light of the moon through the the waterfall spray produces a lunar rainbow, or moonbow. More of a daredevil? Then try what’s been called the world’s best white-water rafting.

I liased via email with paul and meredith very last minute before my trip. They responded timeously to all my queries and assisted with arranging transfer and suggestions for activities. Guest house is very well appointed. Light and bright with beautiful roof top bar and viewing deck with views to the zambezi in the distance. Rooms are elegant with all conveniences including a nespresso machine and pods. Breakfast was of a high quality (a la carte) with a variety of cooked eggs and veg options. Pool area is very pleasant and relaxing to read a book and water is warm for winter (despite not heated). Set in a magnificent leafy indigenous garden Hotel is well located- not a central as illala lodge or kingdom, vic falls hotels, albeit much better value. It is in a surburbs area abou 7- 10 mins drive from the falls. Meredith puts you in contact with a local taxi driver Alfos who is honest punctual and mightily efficient and affordable for trips to the falls. He also assisted to arrange a zambia/ livingstone transfer. It is walkable to the falls but need to budget about half an hour either way. Safety is no issue. There is a small restaurant/ deli/ bar across the road. They had snacks drinks and pizza/ burgers and was of a good quality. No other restaurants in vicinity but short taxi ride to town. Staff were in general very friendly and always smiling. Walking into the lodge was an oasis of calm and tranquility with the sound of a water fountain at the entrance. The thing that truly sets this lodge apart is the wonderful owners. They were always at hand offering local tips and just chatting to guests. They are genuine and dont have a profit incentive. It felt like returning to long lost friends. They even gave me a free ride to an activity and a wonderful home cooked meal at no additional cost. This is truly unique in all my years of travel including at 5 star establishments. The service and warmth is astounding. You can see they enjoy their jobs,as well as all.the staff. As a solo traveller the owners and other guests were very lively company in the evenings on the deck. Only 2 minor snags that could be improved on are: to include a shaving mirror and light in the bathroom. It's a little dark to shave and to ensure all rooms have tissue boxes. This hotel is incredible and great value for money with service par excellence. I wouldnt hesitate to book this establishment if ever travel again to vic falls even in preference to more upmarket establishments.

Ilala Lodge Hotel is ideally located only minutes away from the spectacular Victoria Falls. A family run hotel, Ilala Lodge Hotel has 73 stylish, well-equipped rooms, providing the ultimate in comfort. The top-rated Palm Restaurant offers delicious al-fresco dining under the starry African skies, whilst listening to the roar of the falls. The staff are attentive and friendly, ensuring your bucket list trip is perfect for you.
Rooms were clean, well equipped, and everything worked as it should. Bed was comfortable and clean, fridge was well stocked (first fill was free), patio doors and drapes worked and a/c was quiet and strong, and the patio walls gave us privacy. Gardens and grounds very well maintained, and the staff friendly, efficient and well trained. Breakfast, which was included, was excellent and varied. We could hear the falls and see the spray from our room and every open area in the facility. Dinner was expensive by local comparison, but not outrageous. I bought 2 cans of tonic from the bar at a cost of $3US/can, which was 3 times the cost in the liquor store. It's an easy walk to the falls, the 3 Monkey's Restaurant, banks/atms, and several craft markets. Be advised, unemployment and poverty rates are high so be prepared to be hounded with offers of old currency, carved animals, etc, as soon as you exit the hotel grounds. These touters are difficult to get rid of, the best way is to say no and ignore them (seems cruel) as they walk with you, constantly asking for $, soap, shampoo, etc. Give to one and you'll be swarmed until the moment you leave.

I had the chance to visit Shearwater over a long weekend during a break from work and it was fantastic! Faith, Victor and Shanon helped coordinate the quick weekend to perfection. Every experience, from the early morning safari trip to the helicopter tour to the evening river cruise was setup for us to maximize our time there. It was a once in a lifetime trip for me and i'm happy to take the memories back home that the staff and motel helped create. 5/5! Highly recommend! Thank you very much for hosting me.

I spent two nights/three days at The Elephant Camp and LOVED it! The setting is just outstanding with views of the "smoke that thunders" coming from Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, the staff helped us set up our itinerary. We met the local elephants and got to feed them and do some behind-the-ear scratching of these amazing animals. We did a sundowner at Batoka Gorge which is just beautiful. The next day, we did the tour of Victoria Falls and Loved it! Just breathtaking! Ponchos were provided for you as you will get wet from that mist! We then had lunch at The Lookout Cafe. What a gorgeous view and the food was amazing! The staff at the camp were just great! Very friendly and were so happy to provide us with a great experience. The FOOD! WOW! I was blown away by how amazing each meal was! There were three options for dinner, one was a vegetarian option. Every single dish I had was outstanding! I cant say enough about how good everything was. The tent/cabin was amazing! Both indoor and outdoor showers were available and there was a large tub for a nice relaxing bath. Plenty of hot water. Charging outlets were right in the room . We had our own private dipping pool on the deck which was great. Everything was spotless and the beds were very very comfortable!

Just 2.2 kilometers from the Victoria Falls Rainforest entrance and 1km from the town centre, Batonka Guest Lodge is situated in the quiet residential suburb of Victoria Falls. We offer 27 rooms, each with bathroom en suite and a balcony, all on ground level and overlooking a beautiful garden. Facilities include indoor and outdoor dining, a bar, a comfortable lounge and swimming pool.
it's a great place to stay and the staff are friendly and helpful. I'm sure it's necessary but I'm not sure how I feel about the high walls surrounding the place. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and well maintained

Voted the best Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe for 23 years running, the world-famous Victoria Falls Safari Lodge offers easy access to the iconic Victoria Falls, coupled with a wildlife experience that is truly unrivalled. Now in its 25th year of welcoming guests, the Lodge is built on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park with endless unspoilt views to the horizon, just four kilometers from the Falls. This is the only sunset facing hotel in Victoria Falls, and the newly-renovated rooms and balconies are built up above a central waterhole which attracts herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, as well as night-time predators, such as lion and leopard. Our warm and personable staff are our greatest pride. Past guests frequently comment on our team's sublime hospitality and seamless delivery. The main areas of the lodge, such as the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant and the homely Buffalo Bar, are rich in ambience and also overlook the central waterhole, where drinks and dinners are often shared with wildlife meandering down to the water each day to quench their thirst.
The hotel siting is stunning with a pub and restaurant and balcony view of a water hole populated with wildlife, even in the bedrooms! There is a safe, friendly and regular transfer to the Victoria Falls, the town and cruises on the Zambezi. We wish we could have stayed much longer, Will we go again? Of course!
