Reviewed By AlexandraL1706This hotel has so much potential if it were more professionally managed. There was one staff member who was exceptional but the rest were hopeless. In particular, when we arrived, the new recruit at the door didn’t say bonjour, didn’t hold the heavy door, didn’t offer to help me with my suitcases. He couldn’t answer any of my questions with regard to the room or breakfast or anything else. Twice we saw him sitting on the dirty curb outside the hotel, like a street beggar. The hotel has beautiful bones… magnificent historic rooms but the entrance is astoundingly cold and impersonal. To get to the elevator you have to walk though what seems to be a back room with laundry bins. There is no bar fridge or coffee making facilities in the room. We couldn’t open the armoire door which remained locked the whole time. And we ran out of toilet paper on day 2. Lovely place, but they need a little more professionalism to gain my recommendation.

Superbe camping 3 étoiles au bord du Rhône. 60 emplacements et 17 m.homes. Situé en face des côteaux de l'Hermitage, vous pourrez profiter de la vue. Piscine chauffée du 15 mai au 15 septembre. camping ouvert du 1er mars au 15 novembre. Proximité directe avec la ville de Tournon sur Rhône. La piste cyclable Viarhôna passe juste devant le camping.

Reviewed By michaelnorman033An excellent site and position overlooking the Rhone, however the uni-sex toilet block is something to avoid with no privacy from men urinating in view of the female gender. Back in 2018 they were going to be upgraded nothing has changed except a new toilet block is being constructed. Maybe they will be ready in 2020. Assuming this will be the female new toilet block that then leave the Male gender block still in the dark ages. On the same note they do not openly invite the question of ACSI membership and there is nothing in reception advertising such. We only stayed one night this was too long as well

L'hotel est au calme avec une litterie comfortable. Ample emplacement de parking gratuit a 100 metre de l'hotel. Logis de qualitee qui donne un gout de 'reviens-y'. This hotel offers french hospitality at its best. The service is attentive and discreet. The dishes and the carte des vins are refined, local & seasonal. The menu and vine list were not extensive which is, in my opinion, a sign of quality. Comfortable bed, ample free car parking closeby, calm environment with easy access to 'toutes directions'. As a single person travelling by herself, i was very well looked after.

Excellent stop on the way to the South
Reviewed By Mark NVery nice and clean hotel some kms away from the centre of the village. Quite location. Recently renovated rooms with a large shower. Closed parking and a garage for bikes. Very friendly welcome and service. To be recommended as ideal stop underway to the south and for bikers on the ViaRhôna route.

Reviewed By K_D_joie_de_vivreIt was wonderful to go to sleep looking at the vineyards across the Rhone and seeing La Chapelle lit up against the night sky. Everything was top quality and very well done. We ordered the breakfast, provided by the Slow Food Péniche Café next door and it was delicious.

Reviewed By Robin NSuch a wonderful place to stay, hidden from the main road and very quiet, but close to Tournon and Lamastre and not forgetting the closeness to the Vivarais Steam Railway, which was the reason for making the booking! Turning off the main road and down a short winding track you arrive at St Joseph .. and immediately recognise the hotel from the photos .. but the location is something else that you have to experience to appreciate! We arrived earlier than planned in order to book in before our train ride, this was no problem at all for Fabrice the genial owner, for whom nothing was too much trouble! He built this hotel three years ago, having no earlier similar experience but instead a variety of contrasting professions, the most recent of which, photography, is evident by his many amazing photos in the rooms and corridors! Fabrice loves his guests, he enjoys sharing with them their travelling experiences and is a great ambassador for his region. Many of his guests arrive on two wheels, and quite possibly by other means also .. it is that sort of place ..nothing would be a surprise! Beautifully clean throughout, the bedrooms are air conditioned and allow a good night’s sleep. Fabrice likes to entertain his guests, and, from the comments I have read, they always receive ‘hospitality’ in some liquid form or other! He shared with us his many experiences and we were made to feel part of his family! His English is very good also! Fortunately the weather was fine so we had our evening meal / picnic at the river side where he has thoughtfully placed some loungers and a covered picnic table where we relaxed in complete silence apart from the running of the water and a few other ‘noises’ .. later we learned that Beavers live locally and in the daylight the next day we could see plenty of evidence of their chewing nearby branches! For me the best was still to come .. the best value and most expansive Breakfast that I have ever had during the last 17 years of visiting France! It has to be seen to be believed! I will not spoil the anticipation other than to say that it includes local specialities!

Reviewed By jmmlagunaComfortable hotel owned and managed by the wonderful and kind Mathilde! Our renovated room exceeded our expectations - It was spacious, spotless and had the most comfortable bed! The bathroom was huge! Rooms were quite and had the latest of needs - heated towel racks, safe, rain shower, coffee set-up, flat/sparkling water, separate toilet room, darkening blinds; the amenities were beyond our expectations!! Parking can be reserved in the building and Mathilde helped us in and out of the garage (which is right next to the elevator). Breakfast was huge and in a beautiful room overlooking the river! The location was perfect - right in front of the pedestrian bridge!

Reviewed By mary91700Joli gîte en plein centre ville de Tournon, dans rue commerçante mais calme la nuit. Très bon accueil de la part de Sandra qui connaît les bonnes adresses du coin. Ideal pour les personnes à vélo (local sécurisé et de quoi faire des petites réparations). Possibilité d'utiliser une cuisine collective. Sanitaires privés. Petit dej de compétition !!!! Je recommande grandement !

Lovely Stay at Casa mARTa!
Reviewed By KristenD1167We had the most pleasant stay at Casa mARTa! Fabrice was such a gracious host! It was so great having someone to tell us about the city and give us some of the local tips. Waking up to breakfast each morning was a perfect way to start each day. Our room had a lovely terrace that overlooked the valley also. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed our stay very much. I can't say enough good things about Casa mARTa and will definitely recommend this bed and breakfast to others!
