Price not up to the standard
Reviewed By francien2015The Vital Hotel has a friendly staff however it is not professional nor efficient. Check out took 45 minutes. Dinner took 3 hours for four courses and we had to change rooms without explanation. The rooms are nice however the bathroom is sober and the soap wasn't refilled. The price is at least 270 euro per night. For that price one should get more as well as better. Besides the fact that it is too expensive the location is optimal as well as the wellness facilities.

Reviewed By LegareThe hotel is located on the West Way, roughly halfway between Feldberg and Gersbach. Our room was decorated with bird houses and branches and our bathroom had a large bathtub. The kitchen closes too early, at 7pm. We both ate freshly prepared and delicious salads for dinner, followed by yummy homemade cakes! Overnight we slept alright and everything seemed lovely. Then came breakfast and a world of disgust. A meager selection of breads and a plastic-wrapped plate of meats and cheeses was brought to every table. Then came the houseflies. A dead housefly floated in our small milk pitcher. A meager cereal selection was located down the hallway in another room, on a short coffee table that might as well have been on the floor. When paying the bill, the guy in charge of breakfast coughed directly in my face and didn't even try to cover his mouth. Too gross!!

Ein schönes Frühstücksbuffet wird jeden Morgen zwischen 08:00 und 9.30 Uhr in der Panorama Lodge Sonnenalm serviert. Leider hat die Panorama Lodge Sonnenalm abends kein Restaurant mehr. Reviewed By Andi KGreat, absolutely quiet, picturesque location with alpine view! Our room was freshly and modernly renovated (bathroom). Rich breakfast buffet, very friendly and attentive service. Various organic fruit juices, condiments, large water glasses are things I really appreciate and have unfortunately missed too often. I really liked the large coffee machine in the self-service mode. As a cheese lover, I would have wished for one more local hard cheeses.

Reviewed By glee55Stayed for 2 nights in the main house - you can walk over to the sauna area in the new spa house building. Good breakfast selection. Dinner was exceptional. This family run business makes you feel welcome in the traditional friendly German manner. Most guests are Germans - however the staff can converse in English. We did a day trip to Triberg.

Reviewed By F7766VWgeorgegA very enjoyable hotel to stay at, in the lovely Black Forest. Family friendly with peaceful charm. the food is traditional Black Forest fair. I have known this area for many years having had a holiday home in the locality my trips are now much shorter so now stay at hotels such as this. It was just as restful as my old holiday place and sleeping their was just as good. It is on the main road but you would never know , even though their is a bus stop outside, giving you a direct link to both road and rail should you wish to leave your car in the parking lot. The staff are very friendly and more than helpful . It is an ideal location to visit the cities of Friebugh, Basil ( Scwitzland) and Colmar in France.

Friendly hotel with a family tradition
Reviewed By Petra PWhen doing the Albsteig, we spent our third night in the Hotel Lawine just below the Feldberg and we felt very welcome and we were very happy here. It is a family managed hotel. Our rooms under the roof were large and had a small balcony with a view of the garden. When arriving, we had coffee and fresh home made cake (a great German tradition) in the sunny garden behind the house. For dinner we had fresh trout stuffed with mint - delicious. With it we took a local wine - a perfect match. In the restaurant all seats were taken, not only by tourists, but also by locals. The family looked carefully after the guests (and so did the servants from Croatia, just great). Furthermore Oma (gran'ma) sat down at the tables to have a chat with the guests, while her kind eyes were sparkling and made everyone feel warm. In our rooms with the view of the garden we slept quietly. When returning to the area, I would certainly stay in the friendly Hotel Lawine again and have another one of those delicious trouts. (Note: Pets are allowed at an additional price of 8 Euros. This hotel primarily caters for vacation and offers additonal services for wellness or alpine and cross country skiing. They also have a separate room for family festivities or the like)

A rustic forest guesthouse at the edge of town
Reviewed By Uri RHotel Waldeck is a nice forest-lodge style guesthouse at the edge of Todtnau, 1 km from the center of town. Our room (3-bed-room) was very large, with many windows on two different sides, to let air and light inside (although lighting was a bit dim). The bathroom was also huge. The room was nicely equipped, with a small safe, refrigerator, and a flat screen TV. The mattresses were okay. The hotel has a nice restaurant, offering an excellent breakfast included in the price (we paid 35 euro/person/night). There is also an option for "Halbpension", meaning a fixed-price dinner. This proved to be incredible value: I had a fish with freshly made noodles and spinach and a tomato soup - all for a meager 7 euro! Service was very friendly, both from the owners and from the staff. The guests during our stay (weekend in June) were all elderly, average age 60... So it's no party zone but very nice. There is a bus station just outside the hotel, but I would still recommend arriving with a car. We went hiking in the surroundings (Feldberg) and didn't have the time, but the Rodelbahn above Todtnau looks fantastic, and is supposed to be one of the best in Germany. Todtnau is also a great biking destination.

Our 3 star hotel we run as a family business in 3.Generationund is located in the beautiful meadow valley, in the middle of the Southern Black Forest at the foot of the Feldberg. Look forward to "pure vacation" without stress and hectic. In a charming, varied landscape with blooming mountain meadows and lush green forests, we are the central starting point for your excursions in the whole region. From here you can directly go on idyllic hiking and mountain bike trails, enjoy the winding roads with your motorbike. Winter enchants the snow-covered mountains with their crystal-clear air into an enchanting "fairytale world". The alpine ski resort on the Feldberg begins only 2.5 km from us. The total of 28 lifts, from red to black runs, over 100 km of trails, 90 km of rolled winter hiking trails and toboggan runs make for an eventful winter holiday.

Reviewed By AmathaiExcellent family run hotel that has a personal touch in eveything that they do. The chef is also a member of the family who made fantastic food. The lady of the house and her mother served the guests and looked into all the requirements- although they were overwhelmed with work sometimes! Our room was clean and spacious and offerred a fantastic view of the mountains.
