A magnet for skiers and hikers, these dramatic peaks – including the iconic Matterhorn – range from 3,000 to 15,000 feet and spread across three-fifths of the country. Abundant glaciers, scenic valleys and gorgeous alpine lakes add to the region's visual appeal. The Glacier Express train travels the 7.5-hour route through the Swiss Alps from Zermatt to St. Moritz, passing through fairy-tale villages and over 291 bridges along the way.

THE OMNIA – FROM THE GREAT WIDE WORLD TO THE SMALLEST DETAIL “Here on a rock surrounded by the mountains—witnesses to an era that unfolded with primordial force millions of years ago. Giant stone sculptures, dense pine forests, meadows with alpine flowers and the majestic peaks of eternal ice, ready to captivate all the senses. At 1,600 meters above sea level, a small step closer to the sun, the moon, and the sky with its passing clouds that bring the white of winter and wraps everything as if in cotton and encloses the mountainous world in silence. Here you can forget time, forget where you come from, forget where you are going. Enjoy life with all your senses. And the events of the days and nights, however big or small, are never to be forgotten. This is the place where rooms have no numbers, where the philosophy of Being and Time knows no limits, where all things tell a story of the great wide world, where they were forged and now reinvented the days in harmony with the elements.”
Our stay at The Omni was everything that we had expected. We have been waiting two years to visit since we originally had planned on arriving March 2020. After doing much research on hotels in the area there was no doubt that this would be the property that we would stay for the week when visiting Zermatt for the first time. The attention to our comfort began well before our arrival as we were emailed many times to check if we had questions or any special requests. I took full advantage of this offer asking questions and requesting their recommendations for dining, ski rentals and touring. Our transportation from the train station and our welcome to the hotel was memorable as we had just arrived after a long train ride from Paris. Enjoying drinks and a meal on the deck with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn as we waited for our luggage let us know just how special our stay would be. Our room was beautiful, perfectly prepared and had been decorated to celebrate my son’s 12th birthday. Our first dinner in town was at The Omnia and was by far the best meal we had during the trip including Paris. The food, wine and impeccable service were truly Michelin star level. Each morning we eagerly looked forward to breakfast downstairs in the same beautiful dining room. Each afternoon after skiing we swam, soaked and steamed in the gorgeous indoor/outdoor pool area. Sitting in the outdoor hot tub like snow monkeys enjoying the unbelievable views while snow fell around us was unforgettable. Each evening we would lounge comfortably in the hotel library for cocktails and sharing stories with the other guests. We want to thank every person working at The Omnia for their service during our recent stay. Their helpfulness, kindness (everyone wished my son a happy birthday) and warmth made our stay special. Your lovely staff completes the perfection of the beautiful hotel and we loved every moment of our trip. Highly recommend staying here and look forward to our future visits!

REFRESHING, RELAXING, INFORMAL SchlossHotel at one glance Always one step ahead. And always totally relaxed. SchlossHotel – with its three annexes SchlossHouse, SchlossCottage and Alex Lodge – has reinvented itself in 2020: as a place pulsating with life, for people who relish activity or blissful downtime. Cosy in winter, refreshing in summer. A place you’ll long to return to, time after time. Attentively run for generations by the Perren family, who embody the true spirit of Zermatt!
This boutique hotel is directly across the street from the train station. The spa rooms are amazing and comforting. The indoor pool has jacuzzi jets to lay down. The breakfast was fabulous with many choices, including a natural honeycomb for the honey and a waffle maker to make your waffle. The tea room had expansive choices for tea with sweets. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Only negative, no air conditioners, no ceiling fans, and no screens on the windows. The room was hot and stuffy since I refuse to open a window without a screen in the midst of a forest.

We stayed at one of the penthouse suites for a long weekend. We had a fantastic time. The pool, the food, the spa treatment and the spa area are fantastic. What really topped the experience though, is the staff. Every single member of staff that we came in contact with was amazing, naturally friendly, helpful and with a smile. At check out, front of house gifted my dad a bottle of wine as they have noticed that it was his birthday today - amazing gesture.

For over a century, Kurhaus Cademario has been the perfect place for those looking for a vacation dedicated to well-being. Overlooking the Ceresio, it enjoys a privileged position: sunny, south-facing, free from fog, and protected from cold winds. The property boasts a 2,200 m² SPA area with a sauna area and indoor and outdoor heated pool treatments, where you can immerse yourself in total relaxation, surrounded by breathtaking scenery But the real highlight of Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa is its magnificent panorama. At 850 meters above sea level, you can admire the beautiful Lake Lugano and the majestic Malcantone mountains. The unparalleled view can also be enjoyed from the gourmet restaurant, which features a terrace and large panoramic windows. The rooms provide every imaginable comfort: they are all furnished with style, equipped with air conditioning, minibar, and in some cases, a living room, spa bath and a balcony with lake views.
We stayed for 4 nights on a wedding anniversary trip. The drive up the switchback roads to the hotel is "exhilarating" but watch out for cyclists, speedy locals, and the odd bus - take your time. The hotel lobby is clean and bright with a bar area and seating overlooking the lake view. Check-in was fast and efficient. We had booked a garden view room which was lovely until the night-time when there was a horrible noise from the area of the air conditioner which kept us awake much of the night. The staff and the manager were extremely pleasant and helpful and we were moved to a lakeview room which had astonishing views and a balcony with chairs and sun loungers. The only downside of the balcony was the heavy smell of cigarette smoke when your neighbours are heavy smokers and always seem to be on their balcony the same time as you are on yours. The hotel area is peaceful and quiet with lots of birdsong. We had a drink in the bar area and then ate in the restaurant the night we arrived and the meal was lovely and the service excellent. We did not use the spa facilities so can't comment on those. The hotel offers a choice of 4 types of pillow and our latex pillows were brilliant as we have these at home. The bed was very comfortable an the room had a mini-fridge and small kettle. There were bottles of water in the room on arrival although these were not replaced during the stay (you can get from reception if needed). We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to others. We do hope to return in future. We did not see any issues with hygiene or the condition of the rooms or facilities that are mentioned in some of the negative reviews. The issue we had with the AC noise was dealt with quickly and efficiently. There are plenty of other options for dining locally and there is a small shop a short walk from the hotel with all of the basics. Car parking was easy.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights, including breakfast and one time we also enjoyed diner at the restaurant. Everything from the beginning untill the end was catered for perfectly, and whenever we had questions, we were helped right away. Additionally, we enjoyed biking in Arosa, using the E-MTB from the hotel, and were also able to enjoy a test-ride in the Porsche, since this hotel is a 'Porsche Centre' . All in all, this is a vacation we really enjoyed, and will never forget.

We had two rooms here with a Matterhorn view and could not have been happier. The hotel is so close to all the shops and restaurants in Zermatt but is off the beaten path enough that it was a perfect location. And the breakfast that was included in our rate was well worth it--great wide selection of foods! I would definitely stay here again!

Good functional room, with a great view of the Matterhorn (for the brief moments that it emerged....!) Splendid breakfast. Convenient for the station, and not too much of an uphill hike - important at our age. A great success from our point of view.

I booked this hotel from the internet and I was hoping that it would be a good experience, but was prepared for it to be hit and miss - Zermatt being a hot spot for tourism. Before I even arrived at the hotel I was impressed with their service. I was contacted by the reception, while I was traveling to the hotel, to arrange a lift from the train station. That was a nice and positive touch that saved me a walk. On check in the staff were super friendly, explaining everything about the hotel facilities and the area. It felt very welcoming and that is always a nice touch. The room - a deluxe double - was not enormous, but it was really well designed and that made it feel nice and cosy. The terraces were really nice and added space. I did not eat in the main restaurant except for breakfast (more below), but ate two meals in the pub. The chicken nuggets are lovely - gourmet rather than fast food and the soup was generous and tasty. Back on the breakfast, they even offered champagne as part of the buffet. I don't see that at top 5 star hotels and it is beyond generous to have this on a breakfast included rate. While I did not drink the fizz, I did eat an omelette, which was one of the best cooked I have had. From check in to check out, this hotel exceeded all expectations and perhaps the nicest part was how very friendly every staff member was. In the reception, the bar, restaurant and housekeeping - everyone was super nice. I will be telling all my friends to go stay here.
