Our quiet rural setting at the edge of the village is the reason why many of our guests return year after year to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that the hotel has to offer. I highly recommend this lovely country hotel in a small village next to Sherborne, Dorset. The hotel rooms are very well appointed. The dining options are excellent - we've had great breakfasts and dinners there each time we've visited. They do great cultural events too - this weekend's Jubilee activities were very enjoyable and well planned. We have family in Sherborne so we look forward to visiting this hotel for many years to come.

The hotel centrally located in the pretty town. Booked last minute for a Friday night at a reasonable price. Check in was good and car parking good. However, in much need of some TLC & a deep clean. Our room had dirty tissues, dirty bathroom and filthy cob webbed windows. It was located over the front of the pub which was very noisy with students enjoying themselves. This was to be expected for a Friday. The main issue was the lack of cleanliness of our room you would expect in the current situation. Theres certain standards you should expect no matter what you pay for a room. We didn’t stay for breakfast and made a hasty retreat.

Absolutely fantastic B&B. Rupert was attentive and pleasant throughout. The bedroom is absolutely beautiful with real character being very clean. Breakfast was very very good, with Rupert happy to cater for my intolerance with absolutely no judgement (which is rare). Their garden is very pretty and makes for a very peaceful place to enjoy breakfast. The house has real character with lovely artwork and books throughout, I was just disappointed that with my busy schedule I was unable to enjoy it further. Thank you again, I'll certainly be back!

My bed was small, and so was the bathroom with two bottle of bubblebath stuck and difficult to use; maybe they are afraid that customers will take them away?? very strange. The mirror light didn't work well. The worst thing was the size of the bed. For the price paid 261£ it wasn't worth it. Very good staff, but too many emails!! Seasonal fresh fruit for breakfast would be appreciated.

Stayed here end of April for 2 nights, lovely little pub. Greeted by Cheryl and Alan who were very friendly. Our room was lovely and very homely - with tea, coffee and water all provided. Nice little touches. We ate downstairs in the restaurants as if you are staying there the meals are £10 each only. Gorgeous home cooked food and of a very good quality. Lovely to wake up to sheep baaing in the surrounding fields. Just a very peaceful location.. Breakfast very plentiful and i would imagine locally sourced. Would definitely recommend and very very reasonable.

This 1650's cottage has recently been renovated to a high standard retaining many of the old features giving it a warm and friendly atmosphere. Large bedrooms one with a free standing bath is decorated with Osborne and Little wall paper and fabric while the other room is Colefax and Fowler with a view over the garden. Due to being listed there is a shared toilet therefore it has 1.5 bathrooms. The secluded garden is an ideal place for guests to enjoy a glass of wine in the summer months. The sitting room is delightful and a lovely room to read with a cup of tea or a glass of wine or to work in.

Hound House B&B accommodation is in a separate annex of this pretty thatched cottage in the beautiful, historic village of Yetminster, 5 miles from the abbey town of Sherborne and 5 miles from Yeovil. There are 2 beautifully decorated bedrooms with large bathroom and sitting room/breakfast room. Continental or full English breakfast is included and sourced locally where possible. Parking is off-street. Yetminster lies in the heart of the Blackmore Vale and is surrounded by beautiful countryside making it perfect for walking, cycling and bird-watching. There are many National Trust properties close by and lots of beautiful gardens to explore. The Jurassic coast is only 40 minutes drive away, where there are wonderful coastal walks, fishing, sailing and fossil hunting. The village pub is a short walk away. We also have some excellent local restaurants. We are happy to help with recommendations and to make any reservations for you prior to your visit.
I stayed here with my friend in October 2021. The owners couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. It's virtually an apartment, rather than a B&B, with two bedrooms, a large bathroom, one's own staircase and downstairs loo/cloakroom, and a lovely sitting/breakfast room. A log burner (lit by the owners daily, so we didn't have to) kept everything cosy warm. Parking was easy in the owner's own courtyard (adjacent to their main section of the house). Breakfast was always 'there' when we came down - apart from not having a sink (we used the downstairs loo basin) or cooker, the 'diner' was really a mini-kitchen. There was a fridge for ourselves, and a microwave as well. We had supper there rather than eat out, cook chill using the microwave. The owners did the washing up for us! There was fresh bread every morning for a continental breakfast, though the owners would have cooked a full English had we asked. I would definitely recommend Hound House to anyone wanting a base near Sherborne, but in a quiet and historic village house. There is 'slight' traffic in the 'rush hour' (!) in the morning, but that is all. The apartment is beautifully furnished with family antiques. As I say, the owners could not have been kinder or more helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights last week having travelled from Norfolk, and what a quite wonderful stay it was. We hired both rooms and how spacious and tastefully furnished they were. Very comfortable bed, and excellent en-suite. Situated in the middle of Sherborne, but room was very quiet at night. Breakfast was also of the highest standard and plentiful with many options. David was a charming host and could not do enough for us. He even rode his bike to the station on the day we left as my partner had left her personal radio behind in the bathroom. Not many people would have done that. Would definitely stay again and would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Stayed for two nights ... delightful hosts who provided well cooked breakfasts. Bedroom in a separate entrance, nice touches (e.g. hot water bottle, if needed) plenty of tea etc. Room serviced beautifully. Recommend.
