The award-winning Bridge Inn, once a modest mail coach’s halt, is now a fine, well-situated, comfortable country inn offering hospitality to all travelers and visitors being close to Wastwater (Britain’s favourite view) and Scafell. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. The Western Lakes and Fells are spectacular and here in this quiet valley there is still the peace and tranquility that should be Lakeland. There are still more sheep than people!!! Excellent "REAL" food, "REAL" Ales, Log Fires and a "reet good welcome." Standards of accommodation today's travelers expect. "Home from home for the tired business person and the weary fell walker."
Over the Bank Holiday I managed to get in last minute for food which was amazing!! I emailed the day before and they were very accommodating. We stayed in our campervan in a large wooded car park opposite which was perfect! I will be back very soon! Best pub I have found in the lakes

Works going on causing disruption in our room. Staff cannot cope with diners. Music playing below our room till 11:45pm when stated would end at 10pm. We were told that they couldn't stop this. Smashed glass on car park. Drunk and abusive man being held back by a bouncer as we tried to get into the hotel. Workman's loud music on the roof by our room so no peace and quiet. Thick dust in our room (I have asthma and was unwell). Sore throat after staying in the room (see other reviews). Did not attend breakfast on either days due to little sleep. Offered £10 refund (doesn't even cover the cost of the breakfasts). When filed a complaint we were told they offered us 10% refund, denied the loud music even though its all over their Facebook pages. We have never stayed in such a ill managed hotel . It should be advertised that they now have a lounge bar which entertains live music all weekend and not put you in the room above. You ruined the only break we had in 2 years

Visited with family and my little one. Booked for food and drinks. The tapas or small plate menu looked great so we all went for three each. The food was very well presented and everything tasted simply divine. The service was also impeccable. We would definitely return and would highly recommend it to anyone.

We had contact with Lesley before arrival. She was very helpful and friendly. On arrival we were welcomed with a lovely smile and attitude. She couldn't be more hospitable. The room was amazing and above and beyond what we expected. The location is stunning. Very quiet and relaxing. The property is beautiful. The food breakfast was so tasty and what a choice. We will be returning to see more of this beautiful area. We can't recommend this B&B. Lesley and John are the perfect hosts.

If I could offer a zero star for this place, I would happily do so, thinking that I was over praising it. Booked dinner( for my wedding anniversary) weeks ago, advising that my daughter has a sesame allergy, I reconfirmed by email yesterday. We arrived and were told to get drinks before we sat down ( which we did). We told the waitress about the allergy and she said she would check with the kitchen. So, for a vegetarian, options from a limited menu went down to one ( as the breaded brie might contain sesame, even though it did not say it did no the packet) for starter and 2 main curse. we all ordered fish - my daughter asked for vegetables not chips-apparently, this request was just too much for the waitress who said the vegetables would not be an option as they are cooked with mixed spice ( which does not contain sesame). Apparently, salad with addressing is out of the question too. Indeed, my daughter apparently frightened the waitress We left ( refusing to may for the drinks we had ordered to go with the meal) The levels of ignorance and lack of professionalism shown by the staff were staggering. This is 2021 FFS-. my daughter was humiliated by the abject laziness and lack of empathy by the staff. A sheer and utter farce. I was almost tempted to try to find the hidden camera and await a TV comedian popping out - perhaps Basil Fawlty, Avoid this place like the plague - it is a disgrace. There are far better places to get a meal in the area - The Bower House were great, The Spa in the petrol station would be better

The Old Post Office Campsite is a small family run campsite ideally situated on the western edge of the Lake District national park. First established in 1951 it has developed over the years into the perfect place to spend your holiday. Scafell pike is only 5 miles away which makes us one of the closest campsites to explore Wasdale . Eskdale is a short drive and equally beautiful including the incredible hardknott pass!!! Situated in the quiet village of Santon Bridge, the site is bordered on one side by the River Irt - noted for it's salmon, sea and brown trout, daily and weekly rods are available by arrangement with the owners. Short walk across the bridge is the Bridge Inn, serving bar meals and real ale. Also within walking distance is a Woodlands Tea Room and Santon Bridge gift shop and post box. Seascale, on the coast, is only 6 miles away with miles of sandy beaches, shops and childrens play area. For those who wish to travel further along the coast without driving the west coast main line at Seascale provides frequent and speedy travel to all coastal towns in Cumbria.
We had a lovely overnight stay here. We hadn't booked in and rocked up exhausted at about 7pm on a Bank holiday weekend. Having been turned away at a few places it's was a relief to ring the doorbell and find that we could slot our little camper into a pitch. The guy I spoke too was really helpful and happy to repeat himself ( my brain was fried and my hearing isn't good) we never actually spoke to anyone in person as we arrived late and left early. I text to explain we would be off super early and we paid by bank transfer. The facilities were lovely and clean. The bathroom was heated and the showers hot and cheap. A good night's sleep what's exactly what we needed and exactly what we got. The site was clean, quiet and everything you could want for a lovely get away in the lakes. We will definitely visit again but promise to book this time around. Thank you so much for being so helpful and kind. Just what we needed after such a stressful day. V&S

Just back from a 4 night stay in this hotel. Honestly cannot fault it in any way. We arrived to a lovely welcome at reception. We were handed an envelope which had all necessary info regarding our stay and to let us know of the upgrading that was happening within the hotel. Yes there were workmen plastering...yes there was a bit of a mess...did it affect our room or our stay?..no. We ate in the hotel every night. Food was homemade and piping hot and delicious and great value for money. We sampled the ice cream from the parlour which was amazing!!..we also preordered breakfast a couple if times and chose the have cereal and toast tea and coffee the other days. Staff were so nice and friendly. We had a seaview room which was fab. Plenty nice white fluffy towels and spotless clean bedding. I will definitely return maybe in a year or so..just so i can see the changes and upgrades. Thanks for a great break

Family run holiday park with 5 holiday caravans, 1 holiday cottage, 3 glamping cabins and 7 large camping pitches.
We booked our break direct from the Parkgate website and was delighted to find that if you book Friday and Saturday night you get Sunday night free. Perfect, exactly what we wanted. We have been to eskdale hundreds of times so driven past the entrance loads but never noticed it before!!! Easy to find. Parking not very intuitive weren't really sure where we were meant to put our car, much to the annoyance of the caravan next door who reversed behind our car when they arrived!!! Our caravan Latterbarrow was perfect spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The decking area was gorgeous through the patio doors, view was stunning. We also loved the donkeys in the field. We open the prosecco and were relaxed immediately. That is until the football started on the field above us this went on until 23.30! The constant thud on leather certainly distracted from the peaceful surroundings !!! We decided not to move the car for the break so did some lovely walks from the site, Irton Pike isn't too far away and the views are stunning, we enjoyed walking around the woods. The beds were so comfortable, shower was hot and powerful, kitchen had everything we needed. The caravan didn't sway like other do!! The site itself is great with some good facilities. My 2 recommends are 1) put up signs to show exactly where the parking is for each caravan 2) have a quiet time like other sites to prevent unnecessary noise after a certain time. We will definitely look at returning to this site in the future and would strongly recommend

We had a lovely 3 nights stay at Bailey Ground Lodge. Our room was clean and comfortable. Towels and bathroom good, a little fridge in your room for milk ect. Lovely sea view. Nice walks along the beach. The lodge is unmanned but Alan comes every morning, so if you need anything you only need to ask him. No food served at the lodge but lots of nice eating places around. Yam Frae Yam cafe in Gosforth does lovely food. Another hotel just down the road few mins walk is the Calder Hotel it has a beer garden.
